Vashti said NO.
Esther said YES.
Both said: “I am not property.”

One chose resistance.
The other chose strategy.
But both were brave.

🧵 Let’s talk about it.
1. Vashti refused to be paraded like a trophy. She lost her crown.
Esther used that very crown to save her people. One walked out.
One walked in.
Same fire. Different flames.
2. Some women change the system by exiting it.
Others change it by infiltrating it.

Both are needed.
Both are valid.
Both are costly.
3. This is not a call to silence Vashti.
It’s a call to understand Esther.

On submission and the Christian Feminist 😁🙃
Let’s talk about it.
(And yes, it’s in my book.)
[1] Let’s be honest:
What most women are rejecting is not biblical submission.
It’s the version culture repackaged and sold like it was gospel.
Submission that silences. Shrinks. Suffocates.
And honestly? They’re right to question it.

Hmmm…
My new resolution on Twitter is vibes and retweet my church’s and pastor’s post. But this needs to be said.

We always say you cannot be a Christian and be Feminist. Realize also that you cannot be a Christian and be Patriarchal.

Read on before you bite my head off… Let me address the men first;
The Bible says the man is the head of the family. Wives submit to your “own” husbands. Please, it is only in the context of marriage that this headship ends. All women are not subject to all men. In Christ, no male or female, we are all heirs of God.

I used to identify as a Feminist.
I looked to the examples of the suffragists who marched for equal voting rights
I looked to the examples of notable African women who fought for the right of the African girl child to access Education. I looked to the examples of women everyday around me who despite the hurdles they faced, continuously achieved their goals.

But recently, those who claim to be Feminists are not people I want to identify with.
