Today a ton of Maize ( 🌽) is retailing for N570,000 .

A ton of Soybean for N630,000 .

I repeat again , the cheap food Nigerians want is in the hands of their state governors .

Open up cleared land like as incentives for and to investors .
Image No investor is going to use a minimum of N800,000 to clear an hectare of land , neither will they part with humongous sums of money to acquire large land sizes when the best option would be to pay over a stipulated period with state governments acting as intermediaries .

Nigeria needs at least 15 more governors to have the audacity of @HonBago attempt to cultivate 1,000,000 hectares of Land .
With the @Deere contract for 600 high-capacity tractors (100-430hp), 200 combine harvesters, 200 bulldozers and 200 excavators . This is immense . Image The outcomes of such audacity leads to more productive outcomes for the economy , it increases our export capacity and advantages, can spur us back to be a global leader in cocoa, groundnuts and probably take us back to being second in Palm Oil 🌴 production . “ Nigeria farmers and Manufacturers are one of the biggest beneficiaries of our incompetence as a nation. Do you mean people should continue to buy your expensive produce with a meagre income so you can live fat ? ” ~ @iamrildwanbello , let me correct some assumptions you have .

Nigerian farmers are far from incompetent , if they are , what you’re currently paying for in food prices would actually be x100 . To get food to the table , many people have no idea of the challenges farmer have to go through , let’s use poultry as the yardstick . @Nig_Farmer

Nigeria has a population of 200m people, a supposed youthful demography and 70% below the age of of 35 . The food demand and requirements of 140 million people is quite frightening but it’s also a massive opportunity we are sleeping on. Let’s do some maths like @Nefertiiti says Image 140 million people need to eat , the doctor says an egg a day , that means at least 150 million pullets must be available to get a guaranteed 4,666,667 crates of eggs daily , farm gate prices of a crate starts from 2,400 . Largest producer of eggs in Africa and second for chicken Image

Between 1965 and 2009 , the World Bank injected over $1 Billion into the development of Palm Oil estates in Nigeria, of the initial 6 projects , one survived , over $256 Million couldn't be accounted for . Akwa Ibom and Abia got $160m , both states couldn't resolve land issues . We continually complain about FX rates but the slow , boring and consistent earners of FX comes with hardwork and patience , someone said we should prospect more for oil , what guarantees does that give us ? A $1 Billion investment in Oil Palm alone has more guarantees . Image

1 million oil palm 🌴seedlings , 1 million coconut 🥥 seedlings 🌱 . Nice idea by HE Soludo , but is an idea enough without a proper execution plan ?
Let’s look at the numbers .
Anambra has 21 local governments and its strongest agricultural Area is Anam in Anambra West LGA . Is the N160Billion achievable with this idea ? Or we are just pulling numbers from the air . 7,000 hectares will bag you about N27,000,000,000 annually depending on production processes , which if considered isn’t a bad investment as the trees will produce optimally for 30 years Image

Teacher addresses a student and asks: "How many kidneys do we have?"

"Four!", The student responds.

"Four? Haha," The teacher was one of those who took pleasure in picking on his students' mistakes and demoralizing them. "Bring a bundle of grass, because we have an ass in the room," the teacher orders a front bencher.

"And for me a coffee!", the student added.

The teacher was furious and expelled the student from the room.

Nigeria is among the four HUNGRIEST countries in the world

I wrote a thread on solutions almost a year ago .
With available manpower , arable land and climate , we should be feeding half of Africa

Unfortunately we have idiots running point in Agriculture .

May Day, May Day Image Last year I said over 50% of those beneath the famine line are in Nigeria , quite a number of responses said I was exaggerating the situation, now that the @WFP has confirmed it , I’d like to hear those who claimed I was a naysayer , rather than proffer better solutions . Spending N32.3B of public funds on a religious building is why I often say a lot of Nigerian Governors are stupid, surrounded by opaque advisers.
Nigerians seek prosperity , their governors seek poverty . Unfortunately at every turn we blame the Federal Government @markessien ImageImage Using N700 as the exchange rate to $ , the state government has just wasted $46.2m because no religious crusade or patronage will pay this back in ten years , funds that could have gone into 11 mini plantations across all the local governments of the state . @CaptainArinze

South Africa's is Africa's highest corn producer, followed by Nigeria and Ethiopia, the three countries account for 39% of all corn production on the continent .
Nigeria's annual corn consumption is over 18,000,000 tons , our annual production peaks at 11,000,000 A shortfall of 7,000,000 tons means $2,205,000,000 value lost to the economy , with an average yield per hectare of 2.7 tons , Nigeria has 4.08m hectares under corn cultivation , South Africa does 4.9tons per hectare . Our problem and challenge is in productivity per ha.

Unprocessed Cashew nuts is sold at N600,000 a ton .

A ton of processed Cashew nut sells at more than x20.

At over N20m , these are the places Nigeria is leaving money on the table . The cost of processing a ton of nuts if you're doing it manually and extremely generous with pay renumeration doesn't exceed N3,000,000 , put transport at N1,000,000 , packaging at N1,000,000 , storage at N1,000,000 , the spread is still massive

Mango ~ " The King of Fruits " with over 1,000 varieties across the world . I have seen so many opinions shared about processing into juice , pasteurisation and even concentrates , but everyone ignores the most important aspect to make a success of it " produce standardisation" Image Mangoes are the world's 877th most traded product in the world .
In 2021, the top exporters of Mangoes are
1 Thailand  $702M
2 Mexico $523M
3 Netherlands  $353M
4 Peru $334M
5 Brazil $289M

What does Nigeria have in common with these countries ? Image

80% of the containers on this ship 🚢 leaving Nigeria are empty , the reason isn't because there aren't produce to be exported , but the principalities and powers stronger than any witch or wizard the world has ever seen either factual or fiction . To them SELF before Nation . Image SON, NDLEA, NAFDAC ,EFCC , DSS , NCS Nigerian Police , NPA , NEPC , NIS , all these agencies and others all demand to be part of inspection of agricultural produce export , when an electronic scanner does it once . These are the outcomes , not just the economic loss alone .

Lagos , closely followed recently by Kaduna are the only states in Nigeria with ambition , the third would have been Cross River but Liyel and Hippotastic Merispotic truncated it .
The Lekki Port/Dangote Refinery came from hardwork , planning , investing in risks& opportunities Everything Lagos has , the state worked for it , states that started out richer lacked the vision , foresight and leadership . Keep looking at Abuja thinking it will solve your problems , Abuja hasn't solved Abuja's problems .

It is rather unfortunate that you people don't know or have chosen to be deli rarely dumb to understand the processes of the deal and think Obi holds a magic wand to solve all the issues . If one talks now , people come frothing at the mouth without manners . You went to school , you can read and write but yet do not understand that the Siemens power deal is in stages , you don't even know what trade insurance means , which is why you can tweet so loudly and so ignorantly think you're right , but actually confirming your oblivious.

I'm probably one of the most vocal people talking about the floods here and how the fourth estate and our media have grossly underreported it , from lambasting the presidency and analysing the fallout , but I dare not question Peter Obi . Absolute nonsense. 1

Before the advent of Buhari , Nigeria's rice production figures were below 3 million tonnes whilst our consumption was averaging 7million tonnes minimum . The introduction of the Anchor Borrowers Program has increased our production to over 5.2m tonnes .

@Egi_nupe_ You can blame Buhari for many things especially on security and economy , the former is improving as the military get more equipped , but on agriculture, there is no government in our history that has done as much , the ABP has it flaws ( we got blacklisted for pointing it out ).

States are literally getting away with blue murder and we are blaming the FG for all the woes . An example is the flood across the country , Lagos has built more canals to manage flood control , closely followed by Oyo State . The remaining states are just either clueless , lazy , stupid or all the above .

What @tayooye said here is false , except he claims he is ignorant about it , I also expected someone like @FinPlanKaluAja1 to have corrected him rather than go with the falsehood . Anyway this is what propaganda does . It robs people of critical thinking . The National Assembly budget isn't limited to Senators and Representative's alone but includes all the civil servants who work at the assembly complex who's tasks are different , but it is easier to whip up emotions than be factual . The same rhetoric applies to the health budget
