On this subject of wrongful confinement, a bigger picture.

1. Two - thirds of people *currently* in Indian prisons have never been convicted of a crime. Innocent until proven guilty. Even when proven innocent rehabilitation of the victim & his / her family 1/ In terms of housing & jobs is an extraordinarily difficult task. No prizes for guessing the demographic of prison populations.

2. INDIA REFUSES TO SIGN THE UN CONVENTION AGAINST TORTURE. You can Google what goes on in Indian prisons if you have the stomach for it. 2/
