Okay, so let's address this since apparently we're gonna have a massive FUD wave around it in a weird "her her, look what the dumb Bitcoiners did" vein from moronic shitcoiners.

OP_RETURN was left in Bitcoin and not completely removed for a very good reason. OP_RETURN is not the only way to encode arbitrary data into the blockchain. You can do that in any normal transaction output through a perfectly vanilla unlocking script. You just encode the data in the address used to lock future spending of the output.

I really do empathize with the radical extreme no KYC attitude...but here's a reality check. You not using them won't stop them from existing. A minority of extremists who won't compromise won't stop them from being adopted. So what happens? This:

You get tagged and tracked as the private minority, and eventually completely squeezed out of the network. It's literally no different an outcome than whiny protestors who think yelling at politicians will change something.

I remember clear as day the moment I stopped trusting authority figures in this space. The Bitcoin p2p protocol has a 32 MB limit on the size of messages nodes will pass to each other.

I didnt know this when at the time I supported Bitcoin XT. I directly asked Gavin Andersen whether that limit existed, because XT aimed to eventually increase the blocksize far beyond it. He lied and said that limit didnt exist.

He glossed over a technical reality to try and push support for something he thought was the right path.

To the adversarial thinkers out there.

What if the most important parts of the Bitcoin ecosystem were captured by spooks? What would you do?

What if the mining hardware producers were all state captured? Paying attention to the open firmware efforts? What would you do if the Lightning Network was captured by legacy institutions and service providers?

What if things that could be decentralized protocols became services, and banks and hedge funds become routing nodes spying on everyone?

The next massive threat to Bitcoin isn't going to be governments yet. Its going to be Bitcoiners and developers panicking at the fact that "shitcoins haven't all gone to 0 yet!" reactively trying to import unsound shitcoin features and uses to Bitcoin. Mark my words. Who gives a shit what shitcoins are doing, or that they have demand. Have you seen this market? Its nonsensical gibberish. Imagine if Google and Amazon during the dotcom bubble felt they had to start copying all the moronic scams during that period because "they were pumping!"

Look around you. At everyone drifting off into their own realities, their own set of facts, their own rationalization for why their own insanity is really just.

This is not going to get better anytime soon. Bitcoin is not going to fix this. We will. Or we won't. What's going on in the world isn't some sudden thing, some turn out of left field. The writing has been on the wall your entire lives. In every movie you watched, every book you read.

This is what happens when trust dies. Trust in your friends, your neighbors, your community.

If you don't understand that we are in the middle of World War III, you probably aren't gonna make it. Nazi Germany didn't just happen. We exported the entire philosophy of Eugenics there. It was born in America.

So look at what is going on in America now, and ask the right questions. Good luck.

No, Bitcoin energy consumption doesn't scale per transaction. It scales in correlation with the value of those transactions, and the value of the fee they are willing to pay. This is completely set by the market. We have literally no clue what the scale of that will be. Bundling transactions in Lightning is not a magic guarantee energy consumption doesn't grow (in fact I will argue its a reason it WILL grow).

Comparisons to the legacy financial system? Stop making them. We have _no clue_ what Bitcoins' ultimate energy consumption will be.

I just accepted a donation to me directly today for the "content" I created in this space today. It made me feel dirty. I gave it to a friend for his birthday.

I am not a rich person, but I just have to say this directly. I chose to waste my time talking bullshit. I chose to spend my time this way. I chose to not monetize myself, I chose to be an idiot who spends hours a day ranting at people. My financial situation is not only not your business, it's not your concern.

If you find value in my rantings, pay it forward.

That's it. I'm done. Fuck @SamouraiWallet and fuck @wasabiwallet. This bullshit ends right now. I am not using these products anymore, I am not recommending these products anymore. Fuck you. If you want to coinjoin, use @joinmarket. That is where all my time and effort are going. Both Samourai and Wasabi use different strategies and different scopes on their mixpools, different trade offs for different folks. Reality: who knows what works best. We'll find out. But the current shit flinging back and forth is something I'm done staying quiet on:

@APompliano @MrHodl This is going to be a long thread.:

1) "Smart contracts" are not magic. (And Bitcoin is literally a smart contract platform, every TX is a smart contract).

2) All smart contracts can work 1 of 2 ways: they can deal only with the internals of the blockchain/system... @APompliano @MrHodl ...(like a Bitcoin transaction, which only has to verify that the inputs are valid UTXOs and the scripts are fulfilled, all of which needs no information from outside the Bitcoin network). Or, they can count on something external to the system, which is IMPOSSIBLE....

@zackvoell @alpacasw @bergealex4 @nic__carter @QWQiao It is, they are clearly not a net positive. They've supported every attack on Bitcoin: XT, Classic, Unlimited, 2x. They've insider traded Bcash launch. They have THREE class action lawsuits in motion for numerous abuses of customers and their funds. @zackvoell @alpacasw @bergealex4 @nic__carter @QWQiao They attempted to shill ETH as a Bitcoin killer when it is fundamentally broken, unscalable, and a dead end. They have time and again attacked the developers who keep the thing that makes them money functioning.

To everyone shitting all over @SamouraiWallet right now, here's what you sound like to me:

"Bitcoin Core didn't catch a bug that allowed billions of Bitcoin to be inflated, introduced a chainsplit DB bug, and a second inflation bug. I will never use Core/trust them again." You are demonstrating a childish and arrogant ego stroking attitude. If you have a problem with something, point out the problem, not the reputation. Because I _GUARANTEE_ that mud can be thrown back just as hard, if not harder. I don't care who you are.
