The current political success of MAGA was one of the main purposes of white evangelicalism.

Roll back FDR’s policies via Christianity’s ideas.

Howard Pew, Billy Graham, Carl Henry, Gleason Archer, Harold Lindsell all worked together toward these aims.

Christ was the pawn.🧵 Image One of the central characters that agitated for a split of the PCUS (that became the PCA), Nelson Bell, was also under Howard Pew’s patronage.

Carl Henry shifted from the hard political right to the covert political right with a façade of moderation.

There’s so much talk about ESS, but what isn’t talked about as much is creating ideas about the Trinity that create & justify Male Power.

I call it Trinity Ordering™️.

1. Claim equality
2. Say the Father rules
3. Men must rule over women

Billy Graham, 1985:

🧵/1

“Millions of young people have no purpose for living and no motivating challenge. And young people are restless, I find. They want a cause. They want a song to sing. They want to flag to follow.”

“Into that type of situation came Hitler—he found Germany with millions of young people unemployed, millions of young people, marching and demonstrating this cause or that cause that vacuum came Hitler and built that mighty military machine that almost conquered Europe and the world.” Graham had similar themes in his crusades all the back in the 1950s.

On Jan 22, 1986, RJ Rushdoony left a message for Howard Phillips. He invited Phillips to speak at a conference on May 17 in Seattle with 300-400 attendees.

How did Francis Schaeffer get rocketed to fame and stardom…and why?

Come see how President Gerald Ford, Amway, oil tycoons and Michigan politics made it happen. 🫣

Why is the PCA unsafe for women?

Because PCA women are taught this.

“Self-protection is unnecessary”

“We don’t have to resist or fear”

Freedom in Christ = submission

“Trust and obey”

SCARY STUFF

HT @CrazyMom4Him Image This is just full-on neo-confederate.

Freedom in Christ = slavery to your husband

Suffering is amazing!

Seriously, if someone wanted to try to abuse a woman, this is a great strategy.

I can’t adequately explain how bad this is. Image

Why do I write constantly about Robert Dabney, a late 19th century enslaver? Because his ideas, thoughts, style, philosophy and doctrine have washed over American evangelicalism.

Neo-confederate ideology.

Come see how.

Francis Schaeffer:

“… the mass media can be used by an authoritarian manipulating government or an elite. The elite gives the arbitrary absolutes and then not only TV, but all the mass media, can be used for manipulation and a plot or conspiracy are not needed.”

“All that is needed is as a people in the places of influence, and those who decide what is the news, have in common, the modern results of humanism— the modern worldview—which we have considered at length in this series.”

The New Right took this strategy and adopted it for themselves to create White Christian Nationalism / Fascism.

So how did Jay Adams, the father of Biblical Counseling (Neuthetic), train his followers to handle a child molester?

Using the words of the Bible!

Get an inside look on how abuse can spread like cancer in the world of ACBC.

TW: CSA

🧵/1 Image Step 1:

You need to be trained on how to use the words of the Bible to get the intended effect.

“The deliberate, skillful use of the Scriptures in bringing conviction of sin..”

This is the core of Neuthetic Counseling.

John MacArthur, 2012:

“It is a little strange that we have such an aversion to slavery because historically there have been abuses you know there have been abuses in marriage we don't have an aversion to marriage particularly because there have been abuses.”

“There are parents who abuse their children we don't have an aversion to having children because some parents have been abusive.”

“In any kind of human relationship, there can be abuses, there can also be benefits. For many people—poor people, perhaps people who weren’t educated, perhaps who had no other opportunity working for a gentle, caring, loving Master was the best of all possible worlds. If you had the right master, everything was taken care of.”

[Good thing American enslaved people had a choice.]

“We have to go back and take a more honest look at slavery [apparently others are dishonest] and understand that God has, in a sense, legitimized it when it is handled correctly by saying this is the way that you are to view your relationship with Jesus Christ—the perfect, all wise, all loving, all compassionate, all beneficent Lord—and you willing to be his slave because of such unique care provided by him.”

“Slavery is not objectionable if you have the right master, it is the perfect scenario. Everything you need is need and met in a caring and loving environment where God provides all that we need through Christ. That’s what it means to be a Christian.”

🧵/1 This ideology is called “Neo-Confederate.” It comes straight from Robert Dabney and other Presbyterians that owned people. It’s how they justified what they did.

Douglas Wilson and Steve Wilkins were injecting this ideology into the mainstream of evangelicalism in the 90s.

Francis Schaeffer’s 1982 A Christian Manifesto was not Schaeffer’s original material.

1. John Whitehead, Rushdoony’s disciple, wrote the first draft

2. Accusations of plagiarism were made after publication

Who were the accusers? Reconstructionists.

Come see who and how

🧵/1 Image First, John Whitehead had been with RJ Rushdoony and studied using Rushdoony’s library, but left team Chalcedon to join Team Schaeffer.

Bill Bright was deeply influenced and helped by Henrietta Mears, who may be one of the most influential teachers in all of American evangelicalism (believe it or not).

She was head of education at a mega Presbyterian church in Hollywood, CA in the 1940s.

🧵/1 Image At Mears’s church, Bright met Ronald Reagan’s mother (late 1940s to early 50s) and became Ronald Reagan’s friend during Vietnam War protest days.
