Sitelinks are an important feature for SEO. They can make your result stand out + help with navigation.

But did you know there's 4 different types? Each is distinct from the other & is important for your strategy.

Here's how to identify each Google Sitelink type 🧵👇 Image 1/ Internal Sitelinks (Branded)

Triggered: algorithmically + internal linking

The first type takes up the most space & appears for branded queries in the vast majority of cases. There was a point where these Sitelinks could be influenced in GSC, but that's no longer. Image

Manage an eCommerce store & interested in SEO? This feature on Google could have a big impact on CTR:

Image thumbnails. Specifically when multiple images show, which can influence if users click or not.

2. Single image thumbnail
3. No image thumbnail(s)

In this thread, I'll focus on the multi-image treatment, which makes your search result stand out the most

A story of rags to riches in Google Discover.

The site is a news publisher in Australia. The SEO consulting project was split into 2 components:

1/ In-depth review/report

2/ Follow-up consulting

Here's how my client went from 100 clicks to almost 100,000 clicks in a day 👇 1/ When it comes to Google Discover, there are several components that are important to focus on.

Much like optimising for Search, there is plenty of task focus overlap: the topics being written about, technical aspects, and the content itself.

Each are crucial for Discover.

Interested in using How-to Schema in your content?

I've been tracking this feature closely since rich result support on Google first started in May of 2019.

Here's 4 little-known facts about How-to Schema rich results with relation to SEO 👇 #1 When FAQ and How-to rich results first launched, How-to rich results would only show on mobile. It was only in Oct of 2020 where desktop support started: brodieclark.com/google-how-to-… – but Google still hasn't updated their guidelines (so not officially: developers.google.com/search/docs/ad…). Google SERP Feature Update: there's been a net decline (only minor so far) in title tag length. Unlike previous updates, it doesn't look to be about pixel limit, but instead from Google re-writing titles in their search results. Related: seroundtable.com/google-header-… As an example, here's a page that mentions various locations within the <title>. After this update, Google has refined to a single location, plus added the brand name with a hyphen. Using a "site" operator (without a query), the title snippet remains as the altered variation.

Google Search Console reports can get complicated. Especially when it comes to news-related reports.

There are two distinct reports in GSC that sound the same, but measure completely different traffic types: the News search type & the Google News tab.

Here's the difference: Report #1 integration started tracking in GSC on June 30th 2020. This traffic is from the 'news' tab in Search. A user types a query into the search bar, results are returned within the news tab. Data in GSC shows a sampled version of these queries.
