Killzone instead of frontline. War changed forever.

1/ There is no such thing as “frontline” anymore. Actually already half year or more. Instead of clear border appeared “killzone” — strip from 500m to 10km where Ukrainian and Russian positions are mixed together. 2/ Around — chaos: trenches, ruins, burned trees, bodies of dead that impossible to take back. Ground covered with craters from explosions. Everywhere barbed wire, optical fiber from drones, pieces of weapons. Enemy can be ahead, behind, from sides and for sure he will be in sky.

There was no drones back than and someone suppose to be at the highest position possible to correct artillery fire. 10 years ago I was 26 and filmed this short film (link below) about 1 day at position called “Sky” near the Donetsk airport. 2/It was famous place back in 2014. Little suburb of Donetsk called Pisky. Compare to this place Bakhmut now looks pretty ok. Last time I was there, the city had turned into a field of shattered concrete rubble, with no intact wall standing.

1/A year ago I was arguing with my GF about morning exercises,cause I wasn’t so happy about that. In March 2022, I end up under mortar fire and realized that 800 meters run is a long-long way, and almost unreal when you run with weapons and equipment. 2/In October, I ran 10 kilometers in 55 minutes. My 2 months duty around Bakhmut is over. It was a very interesting time full of adventures and activities. Thanks to the commander I have one free evening and I spent it on dinner in the style of the Apulian region. Grilled artichokes,Antipasti di Mare,Panzerotti with tomatoes and mozzarella,homemade Lamb Orecchiette and octopus in white wine sauce.For dessert,Sospiri with coffee and marsala flavors. And a digestif a Carciolo sour cocktail based on artichoke tincture.
