Architects and designers are meeting with coaches Friday to suss out some more details, like how other school's teams would enter the stadium, says O'Connell Robertson architect Jarrod Sterzinger.

Midway ISD board meeting is getting started with an update on the district's bonding capacity since McLennan County released certified tax rolls.
District financial advisor Victor Quiroga says with certified numbers property values for 2020 will grow by 6.34%, up from original estimate of 4.8%.

The Midway ISD school board workshop has begun. Board is hearing presentation on results of community survey on potential 2019 bond package. The survey was conducted by Decisive Campaigns.
Geoff Tonini with Decisive Campaigns is giving the presentation. He refers to the "Beto effect," which is when lots of people are interested in election but don't turn out to vote. "Some people only vote in presidential elections, if at all," he says.

The Waco ISD police department tonight is retiring K9 Gero, whose name means "spear." He served the district for four years. He is a 9 1/2 year old German Shepard from the Netherlands. And I just want to pet him, but we're not supposed to.

Starting off the Midway ISD budget workshop with discussion of how House Bill 3 will impact the district.
CFO Wesley Brooks says this school year's budget was $88.4M. Next year's is estimated to be $88.6M. Biggest addition is an extra 51 positions, costing $2.7M.

Getting started at Midway ISD board meeting. So far, there's a request for more counselors to meet growing student population and for a budget amendment to purchase flexible furniture.
Supt. Kazanas says 15 classrooms have this flexible furniture that is being used as part of a study to see how it affects student engagement for elementary students. The 2-year pilot study has provided positive results.
