🧵1/4 RE: Troops in LA, DT at Ft. Bragg -
I lived in Germany before & after Desert Storm, didn't hide my service, no need to, nobody said anything negative, even if they didn't know I served. I moved back to the US in 94, still didn't hide it. But then I overheard some things... 2/4 My high-end client berated his roofer & implied he was dumb, coming from the Army. The son of a client, who was being encouraged to go into the military, yelled "I'm not dumb". I started to sense a pattern, made me decide to never tell anyone that I served, let alone in war..

🧵1 /7 There are many false equivalencies being drawn by different groups concerning Gaza. I respect your 1st amendment right & opinion but it's also my duty to fight propaganda so I'll give you my take-- Image 🧵2. The plight of Gazans has nothing to do with the "Free Palestine Movement" that lives in the west. Gazans have no voice in this world, their government is Hamas, a terrorist org. If FPM cared about Gazans they would be doing their best to secure aid & human rights for them.

🧵Small sample of foods with eggs. Dairy, overall, should skyrocket due to #BirdFlu. Chicken, beef, pork, as well. Fish are unaffected but will be in high demand.
2 major concerns:
*cost / availability
*infection danger
As a vegan x 16 yrs I can assure you will be fine... Image 🧵Cost / availability - supply & demand, they're culling thousands of chickens right now. Main concern is pet food, cats are strictly carnivores. Stock up on wet or dry food, back that up with canned tuna, etc.
Ezekiel brand bread is vegan & in the frozen section, my go-to...

🧵I'm a fairly secular (non religious) Jew bc my ancestors immigrated to the midwest from Germany in the 1800's. Like most, they ditched their religion & family name bc of prior discrimination in Europe. Surname Klein was changed to Kline, then Cline.... Image 🧵The region, IL, east of St. Louis, was a hotbed of immigrants of all nations due to a deep coal seam, miners were needed to fuel America. My town had a Czech district, English, Swiss, Scottish, French, German, Jewish, like most of the towns in the midwest...

🧵Nobody likes bad news, especially Americans, who will stick their head in the sand & ignore things until it kills them, as was the case for many during Covid, which never ended -- you were told that it was over, it never went away. Better get ready for Avian / Bird Flu... 🧵Who is at risk? Hunters, poultry & livestock / dairy workers. Any outdoor animal, from a feral cat that eats an infected bird to the indoor cat that you let outdoors. Pigs, as their diseases exchange info with this flu & mutate. Zoonotic, transferred from animals to humans...

🧵Ready to tell the truth here. A year ago I got on Twitter to support the midterms. This wasn't long after I found out my Mother is Jewish, long story, in short there are a lot of midwest diaspora that have no idea, most ditched their faith & heritage for a new beginning... I made a lot of new friends, as we all do here. I figured out that I always had Jews in my life, they were my classmates, clients in Europe. I felt I never belonged in my own settings so this made a lot of sense, I found my people...

🧵US Muslim storytime! I had a huge art studio in Houston & hosted events. A public institution reserved the whole room for a party, 2O female coworkers, all nice. One was wearing a hijab & drinking a water at the bar area, nobody was interacting with her but she looked calm.. Image I went to her & greeted, "Salam!", she smiled & returned greeting. We chatted, she was from Oman. I wanted her to have a seat near the front, by me, instead of stuck in the back, alone. "Let's reserve your seat!", & I led her to the front, writing her name on the placemarker...
