Missed this thread at the time. It's good. It's basically about how this bartender needs to be put in charge of Twitter ASAP. Sadly the threading seems to be broken. (Imagine that?) Image

Today on "What Fresh Hell is This?" I am hathos watching this. Duder's grand thesis (I am NOT making this up) is the GOP is the rebel alliance from star wars because the party "is so diverse" and the Democrats are the imperial storm troopers.

Peter Thiel is very intelligent.

I'm sure I've written this on here before, but can't find it. So a little journosplainin: Getting access to private/classified documents can overwhelm a reporter's better judgement, between feelings of importance ("they picked me!") to ambition to make a big splash to... ... a feeling of being beholden to the person who provided them, who always promises the docs are "going to blow the lid off this thing." But often there isn't any there there - or what there there is requires fleshing out, thought, and organization. Time.

How very Christian of them.

This church is also opposed to vaccination and other efforts to stop people from dying from Covid and is tied up with the militia- and white supremacist-adjacent State of Jefferson group. Jason Parker, a former cop who was fired from his job as a DA's investigator a few years ago, was the bearded guy who gave Flynn the weapon.

Seems nice. fox40.com/news/local-new…

A guy I worked with on Nov. 30 had a family Thanksgiving (yup) and one of those people, it turned out, was sick. J and I lived in separate buildings for two weeks (we are lucky to have that option; she is mildly asthmatic). J cut all physical contact except me./1 I continued to work, which is almost entirely outside. Thanksgiving guy got tested, came back negative. I cut my contacts beyond work down severely (no more groceries in person etc...) though there were a few quick indoor purchases, always masked and sanitizing hands after./2

This story about Jeffrey Russ Gunter, the donor Trump sold the Iceland ambassadorship to, is crazy. He's apparently paralytically terrified by the sinister-looking denizens of Reykjavik. cbsnews.com/news/controver… He has churned through 7 deputy chiefs of mission in a year (the no. 2 job in an embassy, even more important when the ambo is a political hack). He threw a tantrum at one for wearing snow boots to work in the Icelandic winter, and ranted that another was in the "deep state."

In Feb. epidemiologists and other experts were warning Covid was going to hit the US hard and urged Trump to take action to suppress it. He didn't want to do that, so he decided to go with the rosy promises of non-expert and noted fool Kevin Hassett. vox.com/2020/5/8/21250… Hassett told Trump he has special insight not available to the experts and promised that daily Covid deaths would drop to zero by May 15. Hassett happens to be one of the most famously wrong people to ever be wrong about everything.

This indictment out today of a US soldier accused of conspiring with a British Nazi-Satanist group and the Rapewaffen Division to carry out a mass casualty attack on his own unit is wild. justice.gov/opa/press-rele… Army Private Ethan Melzer was mostly conspiring with the Order of the Nine Angles, a UK-based Nazi-Satanist group that urges mass violence, hoping that will lead to a cleansing world war and a global order dominated by "Aryans" that they call "The Imperium." 2/

So far today, Trump has called the existence of Barack Obama "the greatest political scandal in the history of the United States;" called journalists "Fake News;" directed a schoolboy slur at a cable and internet company; said other people "don't know what to do;" called... ... two national newspapers a "disgrace" because they refuse to call the mere existence of Barack Obama a scandal; reminisced about how good things used to be and called the deficit busting GOP tax giveaway to millionaires "a beautiful thing;" sent his spokesman on to...

Ken Starr was the one fired from his job at Baylor U for covering up the rape of students by football stars? And Dershowitz is the one who was unapologetically close to sex trafficker and pedophile Epstein and often visited Rape Island, right? I just don't want to mix them up. With men of such adamantine grip on right and wrong in his team, Trump is sure to prevail in his argument that abuse of power is no big deal.

Trump doesn't know that Afghan forces backed by the US said they killed 100 Taliban in Badakhshan yesterday, including a senior Taliban commander. Trump also seems unaware that the Taliban are well into their 3rd decade of fighting. I don't believe for a minute that secret talks involving the Afghan president and Taliban leaders were scheduled to start at Camp David. Trump is a four flusher.

"Killing is leadership" would make a nice new tagline for Fox. Does this mean that the far right is going to stop with the whining about cultural relativism? (Yes, I know the answer is no).

Creepy 'ol Roger is going to be so disappointed to find out they don't literally gag you when you violate a gag order and threaten a federal judge. Anyone with even a passing familiarity of the far right Qanon fever swamp Stone swims in knows that he's directly and knowingly putting this judge's life in danger. Finding out where he got the image of the cross-hairs and the judge will be instructive.

Heard this clip on NPR this morning (passed along without comment from them on how absurd it was.) Disgustingly dishonest. The Fox droog in the interview also just nods along. If we have to frame "militant Islamists" through ridiculous prisms of what's "left" and "right" they fall on the far right. Economically they're Rand and Ron Paul. Socially, they have a repressive program built to fight rights for gays, women, minorities, etc...

This is a particularly vile, repugnant and dangerous lie from US President Donald Trump. 1. CA does not "divert" an ounce of water into the Pacific. 2. Trump's far-right talking point that CA has not dammed enough of its rivers is another lie. There are no good dam candidates left. 3. Even if pt no. 2 wasn't a lie (don't forget: it is), irrelevant to wildfires.

An "if Obama did it" thread in no particular order. Imagine if Obama...
... demanded a personal parade "like the one I saw in France." ... said it was "treasonous" of Congressional Republicans not to applaud him.

1st graph of Page's prepared opening remarks to the House committee. He writes like a weird AI program plugged into a thesaurus. He starts saying he was an extremely minor unpaid, powerless campaign helper... who the Obama deep state tried to destroy to get to Trump!
