Toptal threatened to sue us for saying: “There are Toptal alternatives that costs less” in a blog post.
Here’s how it went down:
I’m the founder of @Clouddevs
A bootstrapped remote hiring platform.
We source talent from LATAM & have completed $20M+ in projects over the years.
As a bootstrapped business, we can’t afford long, drawn-out legal battles with a company like Toptal.
They know this.

Capri Wheaton, the founder and CEO of Dressd talks about the process of renting clothes through Dressd.
Thought I’d share a few nuggets of wisdom from one of my all time favorite books: "The Success Equation by Michael Mauboussin" @mjmauboussin.
In the book, he explores how the COMBINATION OF
LUCK & SKILL brings about success in business.
1.
Importance of luck increases with competition
Competition drives people to get better, leading to increased & more consistent performance. When everyone improves performance, there is very little difference between top performers.
Dave Kline @dklineii (ex COO of Bridgewater Associates) made a couple of fantastic book recommendations during his appearance on the Founder Story podcast.
1. The Making of a Manager - Julie Zhuo @joulee 2. Resilience - Eric Greitens @EricGreitens
Nassim Taleb’s @nntaleb work on Antifragile is in my opinion, ground-breaking.
Whether you use it as a life philosophy or as the backbone of the organization you’re building, there’s so much you can take away from it.
Here are my most valued takeaways from the book:🧵
Fragile VS Antifragile
We often see the opposite of fragile as robust.
But robust is the ability to withstand forces of change. For Taleb, ANTIFRAGILITY IS THE OPPOSITE OF FRAGILITY.
It's the ability to withstand change & BENEFIT FROM IT. To use its force to diversify & grow.

Good to Great by Jim Collins is a must-read for anyone that's heading on a startup journey.
It's one of my all-time favorites that I keep going back to. Here's a few pieces of wisdom from the book: @level5leaders
Based on a 5 year-long research of public US companies, Collins & his research team were able to provide some insight on what some companies do differently to go from Good to Great, while other companies remain mediocre or make a short trip to greatness, only to fall back down.

Did you know that Red Bull is NOT an energy drink company?
The multi billion dollar company is nothing but an Austrian marketing company.
Here's the story of how a Thai business owner & an Austrian marketer developed the world-renowned energy drink, Red Bull🧵
It’s safe to say that Red Bull is not exactly an energy drink company because they don’t even manufacture the beverage!
Red Bull outsources its manufacturing to partners like Rausch (a juice producer), so that they can focus on what they do best - Marketing!
