EASE OF DOING BUSINESS: CAC SET TO ROLL OUT NEW SERVICES

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has unveiled plans to roll out a host of services for its valued customers.

Registrar-General/CEO, @IshaqHussainiM , SAN, revealed this while receiving the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Ambrose-Medembem, on a courtesy call to his office.

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) says following the successful deployment of an end-to-end registration module, it is now prioritizing the reduction of the registration circle for new companies to just 3 hours before the end of year 2021. Registrar General/CEO of the Commission, Alhaji Garba Ababukar gave the indication at a Dinner in honour of His Excellency Ademola Seriki Chairman, Governing Board CAC and Nigerian Ambassador Designate to the Kingdom of Spain.

The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) has applauded the Registrar General/CEO of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Alhaji Garba Abubakar for complying with the Industrial Court Judgment which ruled that the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) cannot unionize Senior Staff from the rank of a Senior Supervisor and above.

The Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC has recorded yet another milestone by becoming the 1st Companies Registry in the World to issue a Certificate of Incorporation with a QR Code. Based on the provisions of Section 579 (2) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, (CAMA), the Corporate Affairs Commission has cancelled the registration of the Business name “Enough is Enough BN 2210728” with immediate effect. The above section provides amongst others that the Commission has the power to cancel the registration of a Business Name where the name is deceptive or objectionable.

As Nigerians eagerly await the Gazette of the CAMA, 2020, the Corporate Affairs Commission says it has completed work on a new technology that will change the face of Company registration in Nigeria in accordance with global best practice. Applications for the Registrar General’s consent approved or denied with reasons for denial will now be
regularly published on the Corporate Affairs Commission’s website to properly guide customers.
