“because we said we would,” atsumu states as he stares at the road ahead. he’s glad he offered to drive today, at least he has an excuse to not look at kiyoomi.

“we agreed to break up if either of us got an offer to play overseas, remember?” “that was over a year ago,” kiyoomi argues.

in his periphery, atsumu can see kiyoomi clutching onto his passport. it’s red, just like their olympic jerseys hanging up on their bedroom wall—well, olympic jersey singular, since kiyoomi decided to take his one along with him.

many thoughts about kiyoomi who owns a successful law firm and atsumu, his “trophy husband.”

kiyoomi takes atsumu on lavish dates, showers him in gifts, and lets atsumu use his black card whenever he wishes. he speaks highly of atsumu, even when people call him a gold digger. the general public doesn’t understand why kiyoomi keeps atsumu around, but that’s only because they aren’t privy to the truth.

they don’t know that behind the scenes, it’s atsumu who builds most of kiyoomi’s business connections.

Kiyoomi loses count of how many drinks he’s had as he watches Atsumu dance beside men and women at the V League end of season party.

Everyone’s eyes have been glued to him all night+ but how could they not, when he appears so electric under neon purple lights?

He mouths the lyrics to a pop song Kiyoomi isn’t familiar with, swaying his hips to the rhythm and nodding his head to the beat.

Atsumu looks good when he’s dancing. Too good.

Atsumu thinks he might be losing his mind.

He could barely handle the compression shirt and shorts when they made their appearance. + So, when Kiyoomi walks into the gym with new compression sleeves and kneepads, Atsumu nearly bursts into flames.

Kiyoomi goes against all the stereotypes in the book: The less skin he shows, the higher his sex appeal gets and Atsumu finds him so attractive that it’s maddening.

“What made you think launching yourself onto the bed was a good idea Atsumu?”

“Okay first off, I didn’t launch myself, I hopped on. And secondly, beds don’t usually collapse the second my ass makes contact.” Atsumu hears Kiyoomi give a defeated sigh as he glares at the broken bed, sunken down in the middle as if snapped in half.

“Maybe people staying in this room last night went a little too hard-”

“Oh my god, shut up,” Kiyoomi groans as he buries his face in his hands.

Maybe if Kiyoomi wasn’t so upset about the match he just lost, he would’ve heard the loud footsteps padding down the corridor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium.

Unfortunately, he’s doesn’t realise what’s happening + until he rounds the corner and feels a body slam right into his.

Because the person Kiyoomi bumped into is slightly shorter, Kiyoomi’s face rams into the other person’s forehead and for a second, all he can feel is blinding pain.

Atsumu didn’t expect to receive a call from Sakusa Kiyoomi.

Partly because it’s way past midnight, mostly because it’s been three years since either of them have spoken to each other. + Yet here he is, lying in the dark as he squints at his too-bright phone screen, eyes zeroing in on the contact name displayed in the center.

Atsumu doesn’t know if the number still belongs to Kiyoomi. He hasn’t had a reason to call since they both graduated high school.

Sakusa Kiyoomi is a man who makes mistakes.

Exhibit A. Straightening his hair in middle school.

Exhibit B. Accidentally scowling at his professor because he thought he was a student.

Exhibit C. Agreeing to fake-date his teammate, Miya Atsumu. + Sakusa Kiyoomi is a man who makes mistakes, but more importantly, he is a man who fixes them — well, with the exception of that last one.

A year after Kiyoomi starts playing for MSBY, he is approached by Atsumu with an intriguing proposal:

The New Year party Hinata is hosting is the last place Kiyoomi wants to be. But he has a blonde, buff, 187.7 cm tall reason for staying.

At least, that’s the excuse he’s telling himself.+ Kiyoomi can’t even find Atsumu amongst the sea of people. But he can guess what Atsumu is up to now.

He’s probably drunk out of his mind, surrounded by all their friends. Maybe he’s found someone to kiss.

Kiyoomi downs the rest of his umeshu with a sigh.

it’s past midnight and kiyoomi is standing outside the communal kitchen, eavesdropping on a call between atsumu and osamu.

in his defence, he just wanted some hot tea. but he overheard atsumu mentioning his name and now he /has/ to know what they’re talking about.+ peeking into the kitchen, kiyoomi sees atsumu sitting at the dining table with his head in his hands. he has a bowl of cup noodles in front of him and his phone is propped up against a mug.

osamu’s laughter rings metallic through the speakers as atsumu scowls at the screen.

Kiyoomi wakes at seven in the morning to the sound of someone banging frantically on his dorm room door.

He stumbles out of bed annoyed, ready to yell at whoever’s knocking. But the words to die on his tongue when he sees who it is.

“Did ya mean it Omi?”+ Atsumu is standing outside, looking like an absolute mess. His hair is barely styled, fringe falling over his forehead and brushing against his eye.

His black MSBY jacket is thrown haphazardly over his shoulders and he looks like he ran here straight from practice.

“shut up omi. ya didn’t even help me carry the body home.”

having a vampire boyfriend is hard. atsumu would know. kiyoomi would argue that having a serial killer boyfriend is equally hard. atsumu disagrees. they met five years ago, when atsumu was out finding a target for the night.

in his defence, the lanky man walking into a quiet alley seemed like a good option at the time.

atsumu came up behind him, pulled his hammer out and knocked the man unconscious.

atsumu strolls into the casino for the fourth night in a row, drawing curious stares and whispers from staff and gamblers alike.

“look! atsumu is here again!” hinata whispers excitedly to kiyoomi,

“unfortunately,” kiyoomi sighs.+ the blond high roller is notorious for visiting a different casino each night and spending an ungodly amount of money, only to win it all back.

the fact that he’s been spending so much time at Musubi playing at various tables is enough to catch everyone’s attention.

thinking about atsumu with prosopagnosia (facial blindness), who first takes notice of kiyoomi because of the striking neon and his curly hair.

it’s youth camp, and this gangly boy hiding in the corner ironically stands out in a crowd of faceless people.+ atsumu doesn’t dwell on it though, choosing to introduce himself to people he won’t recognise once he walks away.

when atsumu finally gets a chance to talk to kiyoomi — thanks to a cockroach — he notices the two twin moles on kiyoomi’s forehead, slightly off center.

Atsumu’s current concern: his highschool crush — who he never really got over — refuses to talk to him. Every time Atsumu tries to start a conversation, Sakusa gives a one-worded answer before walking away.

Worst part is? Sakusa seems to always leave him for Bokuto.+ He and Bokuto are always so close, hanging out all the time and whispering together like they know some kind of state secret.

The minute Atsumu comes close though, they immediately go silent or try to change the topic.

“Make this stop Omi, please. I can’t do this anymore,” Atsumu sobs.

He’s sitting beside Kiyoomi’s hospital bed, face buried in his hands as the sound of the heart monitor flatlining rings in his ears.+ This time, Kiyoomi died from stomach cancer. He was only twenty three.

The previous times, it was leukaemia, heart failure, cystic fibrosis — Hundreds of timelines, Atsumu has found himself in the hospital ward, standing over Kiyoomi’s dead body.

"Touching it won't kill ya Omi."

"You don't know that."

They're sitting on the bench at the park near their apartment complex, a clear tank of butterflies placed between them.+ See, Kiyoomi thought he would've known everything about Atsumu after dating him for over a year.

But when they moved in together, he found out about Atsumu's hobby of finding caterpillars to raise into butterflies.

It was horrifying, to say the least.

crack idea where atsumu finds out about the rice purity test and immediately convinces msby to do it because he knows his score will be the lowest and wants to brag.

the one person he can’t convince is the team rookie (and former high school rival), sakusa kiyoomi.+ “come on omi-kun, ya don’t have to be embarrassed ‘bout your score. i could even help ya lower it if ya wanted,” he taunts, hoping that kiyoomi takes the bait.

but no matter what he (and the rest of the team) say to convince kiyoomi, he refuses to do the test.

thinking about highschool skts hiding in an empty room during training camp so they can meet in secret.

since its the last day, kiyoomi finally agrees when atsumu asks if he can leave a mark on his neck. what he doesn't consider, however, is how ticklish he is.+ the second atsumu trails his lips down to kiyoomi's neck, a loud laugh claws its way out from kiyoomi's throat as he jerks away from atsumu.

immediately, kiyoomi purses his lips and tries to school his expression back to a neutral one.

thinking SO HARD about the "old money" sakusas and the "new money" miyas setting up an arranged marriage for their sons, kiyoomi and atsumu.

of course, the both of them hate each other at first sight and refuse to get married. so, their parents offer a compromise+ the both of them are to spend a year courting each other. if they still despise each other at the end of that year, the marriage will be called off.

just imagine!! why stop at rich boy omi when you can have rich boy atsumu as well 👀

#sakuatsu | on bouquets and being in love

Atsumu tries not to fidget as Kiyoomi opens the door to his apartment. He's understandably nervous, it's his first time going to his boyfriend's house.

The door swings open and Atsumu peeks his head through the doorway to have a look.+ Kiyoomi's apartment is somehow exactly how Atsumu pictured it would be.

Off-white walls, simple furniture and minimal decoration — All in all a very clean home.

Atsumu removes his shoes at the genkan and sees two indoor slippers placed by the door, one black and one maroon.
