[DEHING PATKAI, a thread]

Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as the "Amazon of the East" is about to lose it's existence after National Board For Wildlife (NBFW) approval to begin coal mining activities in Saleki region of the sanctuary. Serving as the only Tropical Rainforest chain for the state of Assam, it is rich in biodiversity and flora and fauna. It is the home of 4 of total 5 species of Globally threatened Hornbill. It is often claimed as a paradise of Birdwatchers for bearing over 400 species of birds.
