Many dioceses and bishops are trying to respond to this crisis in real time, coming up with plans and policies to save souls and safeguard priests and lay people, and help halt the spread of a pandemic.
Things that should be thought through carefully, checked twice, and consulted on are being rushed out.
It’s no one’s fault. People are trying their best, for the best reasons.
But common sense still needs to be applied, and when necessary policies revised and clarified.

Many seem convinced a decision is due out tomorrow.
Anything is possible in this case, as we’ve seen. But some thoughts.
The Féria IV of the CDF is scheduled to meet on Wednesday. A decision on McCarrick the day before would be interesting...
This would suggest that the decision was not being issued by the Féria IV itself but from some members of the CDF delegates to judge the administrative process.
Art. 27 of Sacramentorum Sanctitatis Tutela allows recourse against administrative decrees of the CDF to the Féria IV

1. A small thread in something a few people have asked about regarding catholic media coverage of recent and ongoing scandals in the Church concerning abuse, of children, of adults, and of authority.
2. A few people have asked me if I am not concerned about damage to the Church, and to her moral authority. I am not. The Church itself, and her authority, rests on God and his plan of salvation. The gates of hell will not prevail against it.
