At a Ranji game at Jammu in 2020, saw two Jawans request Manish Pandey for a photo during the lunch break. Pandey politely asked them if he could oblige after the day's play. They told him they'd been summoned to go to a border area 40km north of Jammu because of an infiltration. "Kya pata, kal hum shaayad nahi honge." Pandey immediately gave them a hug, and clicked pictures with them and they left.
