And as usual @cjdenial blew my mind at #AHA2020. I will definitely try out the assignment she presented: asking students to write a letter to someone of their own choosing about something they have learned in class. Their letters often turn into powerful argumentative essays. (1)
She then asks students to self assess their letter and give it a grade. Instead of providing written feedback, she holds grading conversations during which she and the students agree on a grade; she also gives them 2 big things to improve. (2)
