The Ulster Volunteer Force was murdering innocent people long before the Provisional IRA was formed.
The IRA was since disbanded. The UVF was made illegal but sits at the top table due to the NI "parliament" being unable to enforce law and the UK government unwilling and the PSNI wondering who is the boss and who are eachother.

I have a few words about civil disobedience.
In France the grass roots movement "gilets jaunes" was quickly taken over by Russian backed activists with endless resources and the German Afd neo nazi , russian backed party. Within 3 days , it ceased to be a grass roots demonstration. It became a well funded, engineered Far right attempt to destabilise democracy.

On the subject of Russia/Ukraine.
I see a great comparison with Britain/Ireland.
Firstly Russia planted people to then use them to clamour to be Russian.
As did/does Britain When Ireland had a "vote" to be part of the UK, it was restricted to Landowners only.
It was restricted to Anglicans and Catholics who owned land (many of which were English landowners).It was a vote for 16% of the population .
