1) So others who are experts on Russian history and literature can correct me, but it seems to me this video of Edvard Radzinksy epitomizes what is wrong with the recognized (system) Russian intelligentsia. He is a famous historian and author of 40 books, including on Stalin. 2) The video of Radzinsky is about 25 minutes, see if you can get through it. I have to admit I failed to hear anything resolutely about the war in Ukraine! To be sure, there's a ref to the Finnish war and its fake reason for starting.

I wonder if we can ever get at the truth of some incidents, but we should try. Like anyone else, I was sickened by the video of Buffalo police shoving an elderly protester to the pavement, where he cracked his head. He is in serious condition now. He may not recall what happened. My family is from Buffalo and we lived for years in Niagara Falls. This protester could have been my uncle. I could have been in that march myself or passed by. So I'm not indifferent at all to what happened. I still have the right to ask hard questions, given what is at stake.

1) You know how when you are at a trial verdict, the judge calls for order in the court and tells people not to clap or whoop? A civilized tradition of not expressing malicious glee over justice. On Twitter, however, an indictment and an arrest is already a trial and sentencing. 2) Back in 2013, I wrote a samizdat book about Edward Snowden in which I explained in detail how WikiLeaks was at the very least an agent of influence of Russia. I was mocked and jeered - as I was in 2010 when I criticized WikiLeaks' harm of liberal government -- and Hillary.

This is an extraordinarily important and riveting story everyone should read repeatedly. I'm interested myself to find out why memory of Communist terror doesn't work this way. 1st, important to examine favorite meme of Americans about themselves this doctor helps debunk: The meme of the American GI bursting into the Nazi death camps of the Holocaust and "saving" people even as they took horrible pictures of them and "revealing to the world this evil" is a very big staple of Holocaust memory, but it is only partially true as we find from a US doc

THREAD I recall 1st time I raised Magnitsky case w RU OSCE diplo & the efforts to get Magnitsky law still a bill then. 1) He did not know Browder's grandfather was head of US Communist Party, or pretended not to know, and usually RU propagandists avoid this as "discreditation"; 2) He was shocked that "one man" could "get a senator" to "do this". You can try for 1/2 hr to explain to cynical Russian whose parliament works by phone calls from Pres Admin that this isn't how it works, he will never believe. It remained as staple of Kremlin/some US media;
