Earlier this week I joined 300 people at #RethinkAddiction in #CBR

It was an opportunity to listen & learn from people who had a lived experience of alcohol, other drug or gambling addiction.

There were so many lessons.

A new report by the @aihw has summarised a range of datasets that show the extent of alcohol harm, including hospitalisations, alcohol treatment, ambulance attendances and chronic diseases.

🧵 1/ The number of alcohol-related hospitalisations increased by 16% between 2019-2020 and 2020-21.

Alcohol accounted for a majority (57%) of drug related hospitalisations in 2020-21, an increase from 53% the year before.
