For many women with Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), pregnancy is not a smooth journey, it is a serious battle

For them it’s beyond morning sickness or swollen feet.

They experience painful crises that can strike without warning, serious tiredness that makes standing feel like climbing a hill, and severe anemia that drains life from both mother and baby.

Despite all these , there is hope for women with SCD as they still record safe and successful pregnancies when they get the right care, early enough.

In this post I have broken it down to ; the causes, symptoms, risks, and how women can still have safe pregnancies.

Open comment for details 👇Image 🩸 What is Sickle Cell Disease (SCD)?

SCD is a genetic blood disorder that makes red blood cells:
-Rigid and sticky
-Shaped like a sickle (crescent moon)
-Block blood flow, causing pain and damage
-Break down too early, leading to anemia

These unwanted changes makes the body struggle to carry oxygen and in pregnancy, that shortage affects two lives at once.

SIGNS OF TROUBLED KIDNEYS AND HOW TO CARE FOR THEM

Your kidneys don’t keep quiet when they are in distress .

The signs might look like and unserious and normal at first, but when you start connecting the dots, you will know your kidneys are crying for help.

Let’s learn 15 of these signs and how to protect your hardworking kidneys:

No rush, just a healthy gist

Come with me 👇ALT 1. Anemia
Anemia simply means your body doesn’t have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen to your body tissues. And guess what?

The kidneys produce a hormone called erythropoietin that tells your bone marrow to make red blood cells. When the kidneys are damaged, this signal weakens, and the next thing is “hello anemia”

Low oxygen = tired body organs, and tired body organs = more wahala

2. Chronic Fatigue
This is not your regular “ I’m tired from work” kind of fatigue.

This type lingers for a long time

Why does this happen ?

The reason is because your blood is now hosting unwanted guests (waste products). And your body has to work twice as hard with little energy to remove those waste products.

PROSTATE CANCER

I need most men to think about their prostate health before it starts causing problems.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men, yet it often grows silently, showing no obvious symptoms in the early stages.

However, there is good news. Early detection can be a typical game-changer.

SLEEPING POSITIONS: HOW THEY AFFECT YOUR HEALTH

Ever woken up from sleep and you’re feeling like you just wrestled a ghost in your sleep or maybe you just left a boxing ring?

To think that you went to bed fine, but on waking, you realize your neck is stiff, your back is sore, and you’re questioning so many factors.

Well, sorry about that. But what if I told you that your sleeping position might be to blame?

The way you sleep goes beyond making you feel refreshed, it can affect everything from your digestion to breathing, to your spine health, and even blood circulation.

Let’s learn this together 👇ALT BACK SLEEPING (Supine Position)

Oftentimes, lying on your back is seen as the gold standard, especially for spinal alignment.

By sleeping this way, your head, neck, and spine maintain a neutral position, which reduces unnecessary pressure on your joints.

It also prevents facial wrinkles, as your pillow is not rubbing against your skin all night.

For people with acid reflux, it’s a good position for you and you could simply elevate your head slightly, and gravity does the rest.
