I am concerned about threats to democracy, and I have therefore voted all Republican for the first time in my life. I am worried about threats to freedom of speech, the most important prerequisite for democracy. I see Democrats working in concert with corporate interests to deplatform and silence those they disagree with. This is shocking!

This is a great essay. The author is married to the just-fired Princeton professor. I suppose it's paywalled, so I'll provide some samples below.

bariweiss.substack.com/p/what-princet… This is the piece of writing that got Joshua Katz in so much trouble. Does it seem so offensive to you?

Predictions:

1. The small rise in cases we've seen in the US is peaking approximately now, and case numbers in the US will decline further until July at the earliest. Why? Because that's the seasonal pattern. 2. The recent removal of mask requirements on transport and elsewhere will have absolutely no impact on the trajectory of cases. Why? Because masks don't work. At all.

This, one of my father's favorite poems, seems to me appropriate for this moment

If - by Rudyard Kipling If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;

The CDC says the average adult gets a cold 2 to 3 times per year. If we tested everyone for colds, and counted every death within 30 days of a positive cold test as a "cold death", then we'd have about 600,000 cold deaths per year. Some people are awfully triggered by math! I was just curious how the numbers worked out.

Reposting this thread, it got all messed up because labelled part of it was labelled "misleading".

Given my tendency to voice frustration with covid policies, sometimes people ask me what I would do if I were in charge. So here it is – if I were President of the USA I would: 1.Remove all covid restrictions, or at least all those within federal control, immediately. All of them! They are doing far more harm than good. I’d encourage all states, counties, cities, and foreign countries to do the same.

@bariweiss , I am calling you out. I generally love your work and see eye-to-eye with you. But, not on this, taken from your recent podcast "Why Are We Boosting Kids". You say there is "zero evidence [the vaccines] are killing people [or] harming people in large numbers" Image Zero evidence! Are the literally off the charts VAERS reports including 24,000 deaths not evidence? Image

Nearly a month later, my Dec. 22 prediction is holding up well. Big quick spike, mild symptoms, some panic, and now decline.

The decline in cases has begun in many states, and it should be steep. Example my state of Georgia: More and more people are seeing that we are at the end of this, including in the mainstream press.

What is known about omicron? Here is my summary. Please fill in any blanks or suggest corrections.

1. Vaccination with current vaccines provides no protection at all from getting omicron, and may increase your chances of getting it. It certainly looks that way in Germany:

This got me to go look at the graphs at usmortality.com

The amount of excess deaths in these age groups is shocking. Its not just Indiana. Consider the 25 to 44 age group. At September peak 2,200 weekly excess deaths.

Who is trustworthy? That is key to making sense of covid situation.

The first step in figuring this out is to ask "who has intentionally lied to me?" Unfortunately this includes Fauci, Wolensky, and the White House. They are off the trusted list.

Masks. Natural immunity. Next is to ask whose advice and opinions have proven to be correct.

Whoever said any of this has been proved horribly wrong:

- high levels of masking will stop the spread
- vaccinated people won't spread covid
- not locking down will cause enormous death

In retrospect, I think that early on I and some others on team reality were too accepting of mask mandates.

They don't work to prevent respiratory virus spread. It has been obvious through the whole pandemic that they don't work. It was ovious for decades before that. But it was tempting to not make too big a deal about it. The harms from masks seemed small compared to the harms of lockdowns, business closures, and school closures.

I choose to not make a big deal about it for a long time, and I think many others did too.

White House press briefing two days ago:

"A winter of severe illness and death" from omicron is coming for the unvaccinated!

Seriously?

Actually, indications are that being unvaccinated DECREASES your chances of getting omicron.

But worry not, because the evidence is also piling up that omicron is very mild, no matter what your vaccination status. And BTW the one thing that does keep you from getting it pretty well is previous infection.

That is the case in Denmark:

Why I am Not Vaccinated

I am not vaccinated. I think for me the risks from the vaccine are greater than the potential benefits. I will explain why below. Risk vs. Reward. That’s the whole equation. I hope this explanation will help convince some people that there are indeed rational grounds for not wanting to take the current covid vaccines, and to thereby make them less judgemental about the decisions that individuals make.

Dear Democratic Party,

You have abandoned me, and millions of others like me. The things I thought we mutually valued, like freedom of speech, human rights, and individual liberty, you have thrown out the window.

For us to be friends again, this is what you have to do: 1. End all covid restrictions. Now. No masks, no mandates. Normal life. Your “measures” have completely failed, and they have been horribly destructive. It has been a historically enormous mistake. Admit it, say you are sorry, and move on.

For a vax mandate to be logical and ethical all of the following 3 things would need to be true:

1. A very clear and compelling "public good" to be achieved. Vax must stop transmission, so that vax for me protects other people. 2. Clear and compelling risk/reward ratios for *everyone* who is to be required to be vaccinated. Requiring a treatment for someone who is more likely to be harmed by it than to benefit from it is the very definition of medical malpractice.

Covid Vax Mandates Are Illogical and Immoral

In this thread I will show as clearly and concisely as I can why covid vaccine mandates have no logical basis and are morally repugnant.

This is available as an article here:
charlesbrew.substack.com/p/covid-vax-ma… Requirement for “Public Good”

In order for vax mandates to make logical sense there would need to be some “public good” component to them. That is, making Bob take the vaccine would have to lead to an improved outcome for people other than Bob.

Something is most most definitely not right with the vaccines.

Pfizer trial data now showing 21 deaths in vax group, vs. 17 in placebo. An INCREASE in all-cause mortality.

alexberenson.substack.com/p/more-people-… This is consistent with several other threads of evidence regarding mysterious non-covid high disease and mortality levels.
