Recently I had an Evangelical Christian tell me "Not all Evangelical Christians are bad, some of them do good things and are trying to change the church." so I'm going to explain why statements like this are unhelpful. Evangelical Christianity is a system of beliefs (misogyny, homophobia, racism, etc.) created to give power to cishet white men (and sometimes women) in order to create a theocratic society where everyone is forced to comply to their specific form of Christianity.

I swear to god I'll get over this eventually, but I'm so irritated by the fact that a former church friend sent me screenshots of my Twitter, demanded an explanation of my theology, and then told me my anger at the church hurts her feelings. That is some fucked up behavior. And she said she wished I'd support her efforts to change the evangelical church, even after I told her it can't be changed. She also said she's sorry I was hurt by the church and "she sees the image of God in me." but she has to stay because God told her to.

I can't believe an evangelical jumped into my DMs, demanded I explain myself, asked me to support them working for a church that traumatized me, and then implied that my anger is making it hard for them to fix the church. If Evangelicals have one thing, it's the audacity. and this person was one of the "nice" evangelicals I used to go to church with. Go figure.

It's only Tuesday and I've had two Evangelical Christians police my tone and take offense to my anger over the fact that their theology is killing people. If Evangelical Christians didn't want me to be angry at them, they should've treated me better. 🤷‍♀️ Hundreds of people in my county are dead, anti-vaxxers are protesting the hospitals, but my anger is the problem?

White Christians would've been at Jesus' crucifixion like "If he followed orders he would've been fine. The Romans were just doing their job." They'd be running around saying shit like "Not All Centurions" and "Centurion Lives Matter". Talking about the one time a centurion saved their cat from a tree.

the reason why fatphobia is so prevalent, even in the most progressive and inclusive spaces, is because people believe that fat bodies should not exist, that fatness is an inherently bad thing that must be eradicated. they think fatness is a temporary state that can be easily altered via exercise, dieting, and in some extreme cases, weight loss surgery. "Inside every fat person is a thin person waiting to get out."

Can we talk about how having churches as polling places can be potentially ableist? Churches are not required to comply with the ADA. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of disabled people cannot access their polling places because they're inaccesssble churches. Also having churches as polling places is bad for a lot of other reasons too. Where I live most polling places are churches. My previous one was a Presbyterian church, my current one is Southern Baptist.
