Yesterday, our office filed a groundbreaking civil prosecution against a CA law firm that has engaged in fraudulent actions targeting small businesses.

These lawsuits sue businesses for alleged violations of the Americans w/ Disabilities Act (ADA) - critical legislation intended to help individuals with disabilities access public spaces.
But these fraudulent suits don’t promote access. They just line the pockets of lawyers. 2/

2020 was a hard year, filled with unprecedented challenges.
We have a lot of work to do in 2021 but I am so proud of our office and the work we have accomplished in my first year.

Today we announced two major policy changes in our office.
The first is to stop charging status sentencing enhancements that contribute to mass incarceration, worsen racial disparities in our system, and make us less safe. theappeal.org/san-francisco-…
45% of people serving life sentences under the Three Strikes law are black.
Gang enhancements have been widely criticized as unfairly targeting black and brown populations.
We are ending these practices because they don’t work and they make us less safe.
