this is why it’s a good idea to schedule arguments. go with me.

Instead of getting into it when tensions are high, if you can both give yourself time to cool off & reconvene later, you can gather your thoughts & PLAN what you need to discuss. you know I love a bulleted list 📝 My go to is “we’re both really upset can we take a beat? this is important & I don’t want either of us to say something we can’t take back. let’s pause & find some time when we’re both cooled off to actually talk”

last thing i'll say on the Colleen Ballinger thing. i'm seeing lots of "how did this go on for so long? why didn't anyone stop her?" plenty of people tried. Colleen was one of YouTube's biggest creators for over a DECADE & any criticism of her was labeled as being a "hater" Her Netflix show was "Haters Back Off" for a reason. There was an entire thread dedicated to Colleen on GuruGossip and Reddit calling out her behavior. Part of the reason Colleen was so dedicated to her fans in those group chats is she employed them to fight off criticism

It seems I’ve upset the Colleen Ballinger stans on tiktok. ImageImage “Cancel culture” is used to describe such a wide variety of consequences the phrase is meaningless. Being “cancelled” is everything from losing a brand deal, facing criminal charges, being doxxed to having your twitter suspended. We already have words for those things!

"Please upload your resume as a PDF, then re-enter all of your resume details into this cumbersome form." anyhoo, i build my cover letter and resume in Google Slides instead of InDesign (my usual program of choice) and really love how it turned out!

has anyone else used Google Slides for multi-page PDFs?? is this something ya'll would wanna learn how to do?? 👀 Image

as a former YouTuber this is an easy one. many creators complain about YouTube’s ad revenue structure & how unreliable it is. that’s why many of us left! By uploading to their site (for free) you are agreeing to their TOS. You are not being contracted as an employee The “adoocalypse” made it incredibly difficult for full time creators to make a living off their content bc YouTube gave advertisers more control over where their ads ran, thus making it harder to have your content monetized.

The way y’all continue to make any Black woman w a public profile your punching bag if she don’t speak on/represent/fix every damn issue. fucking exhausting. getting to a place of accepting & loving yourself requires accepting that not everyone will like you. but one of the most stunning realizations as a “public” person is that there are folks who will turn not liking you into a hobby. there isn’t an easy answer bc every show is different. But tv shows generally have a writers room vs 1 person or a team writing a feature. on a scripted show writers come in w pitches, the whole room contributes ideas & the showrunner assigns episodes accordingly. The pay is diff bc the work is different. a season of tv is anywhere from 8-22 hr or half eps vs a 90-120 min feature. the timing varies for both depending on the scope of the work (ie. Sketch, late night, sitcom, procedural, drama, multi cam, single cam, limited series etc)

If you ACTUALLY want to understand why the WGA is on strike this article is a great place to start. It also features SHOWRUNNERS Janine Nabers (Swarm) & Liz Flahive (Glow) on how EVERYONE is being screwed by the studios

newyorker.com/culture/notes-… When a show like the Bear is only given a NINE WEEK mini room, it hurts everyone on staff. It means the showrunner has to rewrite eps alone, writers are paid less & it e writers aren’t able to go to set & learn how to produce or help with rewrites. No showrunner wants this

they absolutely go hand in hand. Remember how bigots were quick to call Michelle Obama, Serena Williams & Leslie Jones men? Ask yourself why. Bc white supremacy, transphobia, misogyny etc do not exist in a vacuum the rampant transphobia is making me nervous not only bc it’s hurting people I care about but bc it signals a growing tide of bigotry that’s going to effect marginalized people of ALL backgrounds. you’re not going to protect yourself by aligning w bigots. You’re really not.

well you chose to go on tv and speak on a community you aren't a part of & pushed a false narrative. it's not unreasonable to expect them to respond with upset, no? @OfficialSampson i sincerely don't wish you any physical harm or danger, & i hope no one has threatened you or made you feel unsafe @OfficialSampson but the discomfort you're feeling isn't bc of pronouns. you're experiencing pushback bc you equated trans folks being misgendered w "scary"

*sigh* what's scary is calls from the right to "eradicate transgenderism" what's scary is parents being threatened with having their children taken away for seeking gender affirm care. what's scary is "trans panic" used as a legal defense in crimes against the trans community pronouns are not "scary." while i question the truthfulness of @OfficialSampson's story, a stranger being offended bc they were misgendered is maybe...embarrassing, but their offense isn't taking away your rights nor a threat to your livelihood or happiness.
