Atmosphere in Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku Toru local government area of Rivers state remained tensed this morning following yesterday’s shoot out which left about seven people dead including a Lieutenant. The Election Day violence led to the rescheduling of polls in that LGA INEC Adhoc staff who were trapped in Abonnema Rivers state yesterday were seen leaving the area today. Commercial vehicles have been allowed to resume skeletal operations but other business activities are yet to begin.

Elections in Akuku-Toru and Bonny local government areas of #Riversstate have been rescheduled following the violence that rocked the two LGAs today. As you may know, shootings began in Abonnema, headquarters of Akuku Toru LGA of Rivers state since last night and continued this morning making it difficult for elections to hold in the area.
