1/ Pat, I appreciate you’re busy, but as one of the patients you care about, I wanted to point something out that will have robbed your nurses of the sympathy & support of millions in the UK.
Many of your members are making a mockery of your protestations that👇 2/ you care about patient safety. Not talking about the strikes, but about most nurses (and doctors) opting out of masking in their every day duties to protect CEVs who are highly susceptible to Covid.
There are 1.2 million of us in the UK, and the last figure I saw for 👇

I am one of the many immuno suppressed people whose B cells are not able to create adequate antibodies, so we’ve lived with vaxes that barely work, if at all. Kind of similar to👇 @LauraMiers @ELHopkins .. the situation you find yourselves in. Over the past 3 yrs, we’ve learned strategies for dodging covid, as much as we can. Some of the time it works, so don’t give up hope.
1. Don’t share air. Covid spreads like smoke, indoors & out.

Evusheld.. the cost argument doesn’t make sense. In August, @drlennardlee shared data that only 13.2% of eligible were successfully accessing the emergency post-infection anti-virals/antibodies within the 5 day window. This explains why about a third of ICUs were occupied with👇 our dying, leading up to the July wave. (Source: ICNARC. Likely to be worse as the new wave crests). 👇

I’m one of them. One of the 500k with low immunity, so I can’t make many (if any) antibodies to fight Covid in response to the 5 💉 I’ve had. I’ve shielded alone, continuously, for 2.5 yrs, but there are many of us who’ve had family shielding with us, so.. .. many more than 500k are affected.. lost jobs, businesses, education and social lives. For me, the most painful part has been feeling abandoned, of no value, dismissed and expendable. It’s heartbreaking.
We desperately need EVUSHELD, and we turn every angle..

My only question is about the reference to the option of withholding Evusheld being cheaper? So many of us are reaching/have reached their mental health limit for shielding👇

@devisridhar Trade-offs should not include the social murder that has taken place in this country. Since the MHRA approved Evusheld in March, 500 immuno compromised died in the first 3 mths, only 13.2% eligible patients had access to Sotrovimab, 27% of ICU beds are occupied by CEVs👇 @devisridhar We are 26 times more likely to die from Covid, our best chance of survival is to continue shielding.. 2.5 years now, and counting. Many of us cannot avoid the now terrifying prospect of attending hospital appts, using public transport, and as for using a dentist or optician? 👇

The only tweeps I see talking about Evusheld are the usual suspects.. my campaign buddies from @evusheld4theuk , talking about how awful our immuno compromised lives are in solitary confinement, behind our masks, b/c our broken immunity interferes with our ability to👇 respond to the million vaccines we’ve had. What we need is EVUSHELD. Govt says no. Wait. 34 other countries already have it, so as you can imagine, we’re (all 500,000 of us) all pretty miffed. Not to mention dying before our time, 26 times as much as your average person.
