I have some more thoughts about this. While this was a very unpleasant experience for me, I didn't intend it to shame the other passenger. I'm sure she had no idea she could be harming anyone, and we don't know her reasons.
I forgot to mention she had a small child with her.
She did not engage even though I (totally accidentally) was really loud and freaked out about the sudden strong fragrance. I feel like she must have heard me. I was in no condition to initiate contact, so I have no idea what she felt about my reaction (emotional or immune).

Food allergies are not rare. However what IS rare is being so allergic to corn that you can have anaphylaxis from just smelling popcorn or corn chips and from cross contamination with traces of corn.
Even though I have over 30 triggers besides corn that cause me severe reactions, corn is STILL the reason for most of my food and activity restrictions. I have severe or even life-threatening reactions to the following things:
