It's no secret that Sakusa and Atsumu are pining for each other, but MSBY decide to take matters into their own hands when their longing stares and lingering touches become so embarrassingly cringe that it distracts players during practice.
With Operation Matchmaking finally a go, they start off small.

Aran is abruptly woken by his phone ringing. He answers, still half-asleep.
"Hello?"
"Aran-kun," Atsumu's panicked voice says. "When I'm with Omi-kun my hands get sweaty and my chest feels tight. I think I like him. What do I do?"
Aran checks the time on his phone.

Aran tugs the blanket over his head, groaning, and represses the urge to throw himself off the bed.
"This might blow your mind, but I'm not your therapist. I wasn't even your captain." Aran rubs his eyes. "Can't you go bother Osamu?"
"No, I can't! 'Samu will laugh at me."

The MSBY Black Jakals hold an annual fundraiser to build connections with fans. In the past, they'd done events like a dance performance, cook-off, and even a fashion show. But this year, with so many new faces, they had to go big.
It was Hinata’s idea to do a host club.
As the event began rolling, it was obvious that each player was popular for different reasons. Bokuto's fun, bubbly energy attracted many kids and younger adults. Hinata’s fans were interested in his global travels and sunny magnetism. Meian's fans just seemed horny, honestly.

Nurse Sakusa Kiyoomi is the newest hire on the MSBY pediatric med surg unit.
After four soul-crushing years in nursing school, Kiyoomi felt more than prepared for sick and dying patients, even if they were children.
But no one told him his coworkers would be children too.
Bokuto Kotarou is the oldest nurse on the floor, but you'd never know it by looking at him. He writes morning report in crayon and constantly plays pop songs at the nurse's station. One time Kiyoomi saw him stuff the nutrition room's entire stash of hot choclate in his pocket.

According to all known laws of the universe, there is no way Miya Atsumu and Sakusa Kiyoomi should be friends.
And yet here Atsumu is, mouth agape as Sakusa introduces him to Komori as "my best friend, Atsumu".
Atsumu almost collapses from shock.
"We're friends? You consider me your best friend?!" Atsumu tries to whisper, but it comes out as more of a desperate gasp of breath, ragged and rasping like the very idea is inconceivable enough to choke him.

As the Japanese Olympic team's athletic trainer, Iwaizumi knows the importance of athletes keeping track of their heart rate during exercise.
He decides to give each team member a heart monitor wrist band, giving himself access to each one in order to assess their progress.
It turns out to be a really useful tool during practice. He's able to find the baseline heart rate for each member and which workouts are the most strenuous for them.
Then one day, he forgets to collect the bands after practice ends.

but hinata bites his lip and says nothing, looking up at atsumu with big, apologetic puppy dog eyes. it's a useless effort; he's dead to atsumu.

“I think it’s time we made our relationship public,” Kiyoomi says, and Atsumu’s world tips sideways.
He turns to Kiyoomi with his heartbeat stuttering in his chest.
“Are you sure, Omi? That’s what you want?”
Atsumu would have gladly kept quiet for the rest of his life if it meant he could keep his Omi. But being public—getting to go on dinner dates and slow dance at charity events and wear Kiyoomi’s worn hoodies before games—that was something he only dared to dream about.
