(A letter from someone who wants to remain anonymous, who farms, writes well and actually tried this).
I had this idea that I could rope a deer, put it in a stall, feed it up on corn for a couple of weeks, then kill it and eat it.
The first step in this adventure was getting a deer. I figured that, since they congregate at my cattle feeder and do not seem to have much fear of me when we are there (a bold one will sometimes come right up and sniff at the bags of feed while I am in the back of the
truck not 4 feet away), it should not be difficult to rope one, get up to it and toss a bag over its head (to calm it down) then hog tie it and transport it home.
I filled the cattle feeder then hid down at the end with my rope. The cattle, having seen the roping thing before,
Cleaning up and cutting wood continues. Removed one of the larger widowmakers hanging over the drive and had dinner with the neighbors yesterday. Power is at the end of the road now, just a few houses away (about a mile). Still no estimate on restoration
I've seen folks in other countries use a metal coat hanger and some luck to get power to their houses... Just gotta hook the right wires.
There was some confusion today with a @portlandgeneral crew, their dispatch and a neighbor. Apparently our street has power(its not) and the ground crew told the neighbor his shop was powered(its not) so his problem was between his house and shop.
The people this particular area attracts are of the shoot-first variety. A couple years back I was contacted to help find a lost dog up on the peak. It had a harness and service dog tags. It spooked in a storm and took off down a steep hill. The owners unable to find him that day
@Verizon customers(myself and several neighbors included) are without service again. I'm posting this from the hotspot in my truck. Yesterday I caved and bought a generator, there was only one model left in stock, and I got one of the last two of those.
I wasn't able to find a transfer switch kit, or the cable I needed to properly connect parts of the house to the generator. My search for those will continue today. Yesterday most of the gas cans(2 gallon and up) and flashlights(anything with power) were selling fast.
Drove up to McMinnville for the transfer switch and a couple extension cords plus other supplies. First decent hot meal in a bit from @Arbys. If I stop tweeting it's probably due to a heart attack from this half pound of beef.
I'm at ICE again.
As the march was leaving the park a Portland Street car came up from behind, the crowd parted to let the streetcar through. For a few short blocks a Portland bureau of transportation SUV followed the protest making sure no cars could get near the crowd. Weird.
So in case I get shot I just want to get this out here. The snipers are back out tonight, I found a good position to take pictures of them I took a few one of them started looking back at me with binoculars. His rifle is now aimed at me.
This was the first picture, I'm going to try to post these chronologically. after I noticed these rifles were posted on the top of the ice building I walked about a half block away to get a better angle.
I'm at I'm at Elizabeth Caruthers Park in the south waterfront district of portland. This announcement was made and people are now swarming into the street to March on the ICE building during an #AbolishICE protest.
While marching protesters chanted f*** "Joe Biden" and "f*** Ted Wheeler". (Poor audio)
This is crazy... This woman is running for her life while a police officer is chasing her assailant, after struggling to get him off her, and covered in mace she flees again, only to have a mob converge on her throwing punches. This has NEVER been acceptable to any true patriot.
After looking into the source of this clip I've made a few interesting discoveries. This clip was shared in a private circle, I thought the person sharing had permission to post. Also this morning I discovered ngo had posted this same clip and credited KittyLists at the creator.
I'm really hoping this wasn't a bunch of beach traffic headed west tonight. Road was packed for miles headed out there. Heads up #lincolncity covid caravan headed that way I think. Just because we aren't in lockdown yet doesn't mean the spike hasn't already begun. #OregonCoast
Also of note... I went out to dinner on the 11th at @SpiritMTNcasino, we had reservations... They had us wait in the lobby for 30m past our reservation time(foot traffic cruising thru a few other groups freely) and had two lines of walk-ins waiting to be sat.
Although the floor was marked with 6ft marks, no one was actually following them, and there was no enforcement of this. I saw people lean on the hostesses table in the center of the lobby and lean in to talk with her, several times this happened, lots of mask and face touching.
