I have served on, chaired, + been the arms-length observer on multiple SSHRC adjudication cmtes since 2013: Insight Grants, NFRF, Canada 150 Chairs, PG1, PG2. I’m currently on a TAP committee that is a collaboration between SSHRC + Brazil for a special call on democracy + trust.
These committees are made up of academics, and sometimes business and community partners, from across the country. Some committees have international members. The Partnership Grant Cmte I was just on had an academic from Germany, for example.

I see a lot of people arguing for more K-12 civics/citizenship education in light of the illegal blockades/protests/occupations happening across 🇨🇦 over the past few weeks. 1/n
As a life-long history and citizenship educator, I’m all for this. Priority has shifted over the years to literacy and numeracy, and other subjects often get the short end of the stick, especially in the elementary grades. 2/n
