Dems need to deploy an insanely strong pro-middle class agenda ASAP.
Better child care tax deductions, FUNDING for child care, mandated maternity/paternity leave, can't get universal healthcare passed? How about universal healthcare for pregnancy and infants?
That's right. I said it.
Let's piece it out. Pregnant mothers shouldn't have to think for even one second about getting the care they need OR getting their baby any care it needs. This would be a no-brainer to pass. Let the GOP torch themselves on shooting it down.

4 years ago I said that the GOP was not behaving like a normal political party.
They were behaving like they were in the final stages of a coup. They couldn't afford to lose any power because they needed time to seal things up.
Well, they lost the House in 2018.
That was pretty bad for them.
Now, they've lost the Executive which is even worse. Their coup has failed.
The thing about failed coups is that normally the conspirators get hanged.
But this is a country where if you are powerful enough no laws apply to you.

Superheroes and supervillains are attractive because it's clear who the bad guys are.
The guy holding a nuke button and demanding money is the bad guy.
In real life things are rarely that black and white.
There's an old saying: One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
It's an old saying because it's true. The bad guy is whoever it is that's trying to hurt you, but objective 'evil' is much harder to identify.
Trump and his followers represent clear evil, I think.

Realistically, Trump and his lackeys have had to work so much harder and deal with so much more stress by breaking the law and doing the wrong things than if they had just....not.
Instead of lying constantly - something that takes a lot more effort than the truth - just be honest.
Trump and the GOP do actually know what policies are broadly popular, but the SPECIFICALLY chose not to do them to instead break the law and install loyalist judges.

I worry that the only thing that anyone will learn from Trump's presidency will be fascists and where he went wrong.
What Trump has exposed is that our democracy is MUCH more vulnerable than most thought.
Defeating Trump won't be enough.
What we have to defeat is a deep vein in this country that actually desires an end to democracy so long as they get their version of Christian theocracy. Even if just on the surface.
