The CREME GUIDE to Junín
We recently visited Junín, a city in the province of Buenos Aires, about a 3+ drive from the capital. Years ago I saw a photo series of cute benches on the pavements locals sit on to watch the world go by - I’d wanted to visit ever since.
I was recommended Casa Viva hotel and new bistro opening Carrero - enough additional reasons to visit.
I went for a few days of rest: anything else was a bonus.

An incredible project which Le Corbusier never realised, the fruits of his trip to Latin America and which would have potentially been a jewel in the Argentine capital’s crown : the residential commission for Julian Martinez he agreed to before leaving Buenos Aires in 1929.
Martinez was persuaded by his friend, the socialite and writer Victoria Ocampo to hire the Swiss-French architect to build him a house on a plot of land he’d bought on Avenida de los Incas and Freire, in the upscale residential neighborhood of Belgrano.

When Walt Disney visited Argentina in 1941 as part of an inspirational trip around South America, he got a taste for the local culture and returned to The States to create an animated short a year later, a segment of Saludos Amigos which he entitled El Gaucho Goofy.
Goofy is transported from the Texas plains to the Argentinian pampas to cut his teeth as a gaucho.

1) 10 years ago today I moved to Buenos Aires from East London. I started a blog and wrote a post on my impressions a year later, working as an English teacher and trying to get my head round Argentinians and their customs (STARTS THREAD) 2) BA puts NYC in the shade, this really is the city that never sleeps and I’ve been tired for 359 days.
