I’ve read through most (I think) of the sections of the U.S. Citizenship Act that turn on criminal activity or policing. Here are some thoughts…. In section 1106, the proposal uses a wide array of criminal activity to bars people from the new legalization scheme.

Last Friday, the federal government filed its motion opposing a preliminary injunction in the lawsuit Texas brought against the Biden-Harris administration’s 100-day deportation pause. Private prison corporation GEO Group tells investors it’s concerned about political climate: "heightened political rhetoric has led to the mischaracterization of our role as a government services provider and has created concerns regarding our future access to financing.” About Biden’s executive order rolling back Justice Dept contracts with private prison companies, GEO says: "we expect that our remaining secure services contracts with the [Bureau of Prisons] may not be renewed over the coming years."

I just read the federal court’s decision to stop the 100-day deportation pause. The court granted a temporary restraining order blocking the Biden administration from implementing its 100-day deportation pause. The TRO applies for 14 days. Expedited removal isn’t a bad idea because it’s new. It’s not. It’s been happening for decades along the border. It’s a procedural catastrophe that subverts the legitimacy of the US immigration system by circumventing immigration courts. It’s also a bad idea because it catches US citizens in its rule-of-law deathtrap.

Amicus brief by 67,000-strong American Academy of Pediatrics puts government’s choice starkly: release families from ICE immigration prisons or “significant number” will face “permanent disability or death” - filed in OMG v Wolf Releasing kids & parents would help them, staff, medical systems, & everyone who relies on medical systems (meaning pretty much all of us). By contrast, continuing to detain families is likely to create Covid-19 hotspots, AAP amicus brief argues.

According to the very agency he heads, this is the “number of DACA requestors approved with a prior arrest” meaning that they were granted DACA despite the arrest. Another way of putting it is, even DHS doesn’t think these arrests are a very big deal. Also, and here I’ll just quote from the USCIS statistical report, since the agency that Cuccinelli heads put it as well as I can:
