The insane replies I've seen lately of people not wanting to be slightly inconvenienced to protect others is stunning in a way I never expected of other humans. I fundamentally can not being to imagine what such a lack of compassion and empathy feels like.
These people frequently use the idea of "we live in a democracy," or "freedom" to back up their ideas.
Except both of those things come with the responsibility to vote and exercise freedom for the betterment of society.

The LFT strips cost literal fucking pennies to make. The fact some companies slap a fucking sensor and an app on them and send them for 100x mark up is unconscionable imho and IDK how much of an unpopular hot take it is.
Like literally back home every household is getting boxes of LFT a month and being told to test every time before just leaving their house and here we are bitching if $150 for a test that needs a smart phone to be read is fucking stupid.
This is unreal, vaccination cuts the risk of transmission by half, we know this, it is FACT. With schools back to normal, and with huge outbreaks in schools (there are some schools in Scotland with 50% of its roll absent atm), they can easily transmit without vaccination.

The thing about science is nice people rarely succeed from what Iβve seen because they get bullied and abused out of it. Iβm so tired of the toxicity in this industry and I have 0 belief it will ever change or people will ever be held accountable.

Being an immunologist the last 18 months has been a nightmare and just, just, when I thought that maybe just the UK wasn't going to fuck up the vaccine programme they've decided we're going to ruin it's good work by letting the delta variant rip through before its complete.
Only 50% of the UK is FULLY vaccinated. Stop pretending almost every adult is vaccinated they are NOT. Certainly we do not have enough fully vaccinated adults to allow lifting of all restrictions like this.

I'm sorry but this is bullshit. Don't open your mouth about things you don't understand.
Scotland likely has higher COVID rates because of a number of nuanced factors that all contributed.
1 - the football played a part in accelerating the % of Delta cases. 2 - Most cases are in under 30s who weren't eligible for the jab until this month. 3 - They haven't had enough time to get double jabbed.

Actually in fucking tears, the local driving school wont take me and offer me lessons because I live like fucking 100 feet outside the city and want me to get a $50 return uber to the other city of the city for a lesson and I'm like.....so don't advertise that you pick up then!
How the fuck am I meant to do anything in this stupid city. Like every single fucking moment is a road block. Literally can't do any of the stuff I need to because I can't get to the places I need to do it so I'm just fucking sentenced to be unable to function here.

Here's a symbolic medal to make up for the fact the Gov hasn't given you a proper pay rise in nearly 20 years and they murdered healthcare workers through dangerous work conditions.
The NHS staff STILL have inadequate PPE for COVID patient work. Haven't had a proper pay rise in 20 years to bring pay in line with inflation. They have had in real terms a 15% pay cut over that time. Then we let them roll the dice on death every shift they worked in the pandemic

We're going to start with a basic concept in immunology, that is going to end up resulting in something very complex...but its the 'domino' activation of immune cells. I like to teach this as the idea of transmission of instructions along a production line.

I'm gonna say this, one more time.
Herd immunity is the process by which vulnerable people are protected by the rest of the population being immune, therefore preventing transmission of infections.
It is not, what is left when everyone who is vulnerable is dead.
Wow so this took off. I have nothing to promote.
Just be kind to each other in this hard time. Make sure those who are vulnerable around you are cared for. Don't hoard. Practice good handwashing. It is more important than ever, we take care of each other now.
