By smoothing out his monstrous ideas & failing to hold him to any basic standard of public leadership (or human decency), the press has effectively immunized Trump from the very notion of an 'October surprise.' This is why the race is & will remain somewhat close. For example:
It came out this week that at the height of the pandemic — during a major supply shortage, while thousands of Americans died every day — Trump literally *shipped our precious COVID testing machines to Vladimir Putin*. Personally! Secretly! That's a 1000-point font scandal!

For whatever it’s worth — probably nothing — I spent a decent amount of time in close proximity to Pres. Biden before leaving the White House in the fall of ‘22. That included dozens of trips, early AM and late night meetings, some pretty grueling days, etc. Never once… (1/7)
… did I see anything portending a performance as rough as last week’s. I saw a POTUS who was focused & sharp — w/ old-dude idiosyncrasies, sure, but definitively with it. No moments that concerned me. You don’t have to believe me, but if it helps: I swear my life on it. (2/7)

The most frustrating part about Adam McKay & others who flood lefty social circles with lies about Biden's economic record is that they're a big part of the reason Donald Trump still has any semblance of a political future.
But here's the *second* most frustrating part. (1/9)
I worked in the White House when most of the core of Bidenomics was being conceived or implemented, & sat in 100s of meetings. I can't think of a single thing I heard — from Biden, economists, or anyone — that would've caused lefties to say anything other than "hell yeah!" (2/9)

Genuinely curious — not in a being-a-jerk way, but actually — what the rest of the plan is for those whose prescription is "CEASEFIRE NOW!"
Biden *did* broker a ceasefire three weeks ago; it lasted six days, then ended when Hamas refused to continue releasing hostages. (1/10)
Faced with that reality, what do we expect "ceasefire now!" to accomplish if it suddenly came true? Is the idea that Israel just forgets about the remaining hostages and calls it a day? And Hamas... rebuilds a devastated Gaza and helps the people get back on their feet? (2/10)
