Here is a thread of the 100 policies KO (which will lead a new coalition government formed by the opposition) promised to introduce in its first 100 days.

I've divided them into the categories used by KO.

Translations are in quotes; anything else is a summary. Sorry for typos FAMILY
1. State funding of at least 500m zl for IVF
2. 1,500zl per month for childcare to help mother's return to work
3. "Anti-violence policy"
4. "Anti-inflation bonds"
5. Introduce civil partnerships [not mentioned, but they are meant to be available to same-sex couples\ Image

Lou Bega singing Mambo No. 5 at a concert in support of Polish troops defending the eastern border amid a migration crisis is the most surreal thing I've seen for a long time In case you're wondering notesfrompoland.com/2021/12/03/pol…

Sources inside PO are now admitting that they didn't make enough effort to win support in the east of Poland during this campaign.

The party now has three years to do the hard work of rebuilding support in rural areas (where it used to do quite well) wiadomosci.onet.pl/tylko-w-onecie… Interesting comments in there about Trzaskowski potentially being "Tusk 2.0"

In 2005, Tusk lost the presidential election to PiS's Lech Kaczyński, but two years later he led PO into government at parliamentary elections. Some in PO now hope Trzaskowski can do the same

President Duda accuses international media of "fake news" for distorting his words about "LGBT not being people" and being "more dangerous than communism".

I've not seen any media misquote him. In the thread below I'll translate his speech and you can make up your own mind All the extracts I'm translating below come from wPolityce, a PiS-linked and extremely pro-government source.

This is a fairly quick translation, so may be rough in places wpolityce.pl/polityka/50454…

Summary of Poland's election situation tonight:

1. Opposition-controlled Senate has, as expected, voted to reject bill to introduce postal presidential elections. It now returns to lower-house Sejm, which has the power to overturn the Senate's decision. However, that requires... ...a majority of MPs, and it is currently appears unlikely that the ruling PiS party can achieve that following a rebellion by one of its junior coalition partners.

2. The Sejm speaker asked the head of the electoral commission if it would be able to organise the election...

This article - ostensibly about rising antisemitism in Europe but mostly about Poland - is full of misleading claims.

I don't wish to downplay the problem of antisemitism in Poland, but it should be discussed on the basis of facts.

Thread 1/? independent.co.uk/voices/antisem… Weird phrasing aside, this is the standard but misleading characterisation of the "Holocaust law". It sought to criminalise FALSE claims of responsibility of the Polish state or nation for Nazi German crimes.

I strongly opposed the law, but it must be properly understood 2/?

One of Poland's most prominent antisemites, Grzegorz Braun, has been elected as an MP for far-right Konfederacja.

He promotes Jewish conspiracy theories, wants homosexuality criminalised, opposes democracy, and has been accused of Russian links.

Thread⬇️wiadomosci.wp.pl/wyniki-wyborow… This year alone, Braun has said:

- 'The American empire is the political and military tool of Jewish blackmail against Poland'
- 'Jews have waged war against the Polish nation for centuries, in fact against the whole Christian world' adl.org/blog/anti-semi…

[Thread] Bias of state TV news laid bare in analysis by Society of Journalists of coverage in the 2 weeks before EU elections:
- 69 reports on PiS (68 positive)
- 33 on European Coalition (all negative)
- 2 on Confederation
- 0 on Kukiz, Spring, Together polityka.pl/tygodnikpolity… 2. The main evening broadcast would cover the same story over and over again to emphasises an issue.

A secret recording of an opposition MP admitting his party wanted to be 'progressive' on LGBT rights but had to hide this from rural voters was shown on 7 successive evenings
