The inscription was not added to the logo because of any Islamization agenda.

It was added by a Christian officer from the Urhobo tribe, David Ejoor, former Chief of Army Staff, for a military purpose.

In his book "Reminiscences", he explained how he came about it.

1/5.
Image He wrote:

"My job was to seek a new meaningful design for the cap badge of the Nigerian Army. I set to work.”

“In seeking a new design, I was anxious that the symbol should reflect the duty of the army and should be capable of inspiring officers and men."

@DrJoeAbah @ArchitectNiyi If the question of the status of FCT had not been treated by the courts before now, the arguments saying that the 25% requirement makes Abuja special might be understandable.

But the courts have addressed it, in some cases.

1/. @DrJoeAbah @ArchitectNiyi In OKOYADE vs FCDA (LPELR-41123 CA), the Court of Appeal held:

"It is...doubtless clear that by virtue of Section 299 of the Constitution of the Constitution of the Federation, the 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘄 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲."

The First Niger Bridge was completed by Dumez, a French company in December 1965 and commissioned on January 4, 1966 by Sir Tafawa Balewa (See first photo).

It was 1.024 km long and 36 feet wide in the center. ImageImage The bridge was destroyed in 1967, during the Civil War, to stop the advancement of federal troops.

In 1970, after the war, the federal government began rebuilding the bridge. The team of army engineers that carried out the repairs were led by then Col. Ọbásanjọ, later CIC.

Clashes between the public and the police are common. It's easy to think the police are to blame, but this isn't always the case.

What can we do to improve things? This thread will share some tips.

Obey traffic rules. Don't carry contraband. Avoid crimes. If stopped by the police, behave well if you are being questioned or arrested to avoid any physical confrontation.

What the Bible Reveals About Women (2): 𝗠𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

“Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙩 her."

—Mark 10:11

This truth by Jesus dignified women. How?

1/4. Image Jesus made clear that God requires men and women to be equally faithful.

In Jesus' day, the rabbis taught that only a woman could be unfaithful, that a man could never commit adultery against his wife. Was this right?

I have been writing a lot about Lagos since last year, primarily because the distortions about the city I saw online made me wonder.

Why do I say what I know about Lagos? Because fair is fair.

1/. My travel to and stay in other states in Nigeria (I have been to all and lived in some) makes me appreciate many things about Lagos.

For example, when we spent two weeks in Tinapa for a project, two of us took a walk around the large complex every morning.

Who do we praise when we do well and who do we praise when we fall short or fail? The answer can help us know if we are guilty of self-serving bias.

What is it?

1/11. Self-serving bias is the bias that makes us praise ourselves for what we do well and for good things that happen to us and blame others or external factors for what we do badly or for bad things in our lives.

Let's consider some examples.

Going by the tales some are telling, Lagos was a paradise before 1999 and a jungle afterward.

There were no area boys, and if they existed at all, they were as harmless as sheep, if I may exaggerate a bit.

1/. Everywhere was safe and clean. All the roads were good and smooth. Hospitals had the best equipment and buildings; schools had libraries, computers, and excellent classrooms and furniture.

Traffic?  What traffic?  Waste?  What waste?  Not a litter anywhere.

Thieves? None.

Lagos is not perfect. No city is; but distorting facts about Lagos and the administrations that have ruled it is not just online banter. It is the miseducation of the leaders of tomorrow, our youths.

1/. If you have discussed the Nigerian Civil War with young Nigerians, you might see that most of them have a distorted view of the war because of the wrong information they read or were fed.

That misinformation made them inherit the prejudices that triggered that war.

I am surprised by the claim by some lawyers that the Supreme Court's order on the Naira deadline is political. Why?

The court clearly stated that the order was "pending the hearing and determination of their motion on notice for interlocutory injunction” on February 15.

1/. Since the Court said it will hear and determine the motion a week later, why rush to criticize the court for a pending matter it's yet to determine?

Is such criticism not the actual politics and an attempt to politicize a unanimous 𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 order of the apex court?

Having been to different banks, listened to regular folks in my area, and seen the chaos and desperation to get cash at the banks, any extension that will help reduce the suffering of the masses, who are most affected, makes practical, moral, and legal sense to me.

Why?

1/. 1. The argument that sticking to the extension will "prevent vote-buying" misses the fact that those who are rich enough to buy votes are also rich enough to have the new notes already and to organize transfers.

Go to some parties, and you go see say the new Naira dey town.

@woye1 It could be that the person you referred to used old data, which can happen to any of us.

The floods are here and there are sad reports that some were trapped in their vehicles by floods in some parts of Lagos. What can help staff safe in such situations? This thread gives some tips.

1/
1. Listen to or read weather reports before you go out.

Federal and state governments provide flood warnings from time to time. Pay attention to such warnings and follow the advice. You can also download weather apps to your devices to get advance notice of heavy rainfall.
