Very twisted racial saga happening in Kansas City right now.

Local DJ announced last week he's opening a hi-fi lounge, part of a development at KC Current's stadium.

DJ/owner is Black in a city where the lack of diversity in nightlife is often lamented/seen as racist (contd) The name of the bar is Sundown. It's on the riverfront. Press release says, "Think golden hour turned into midnight."

Soon after the announcement, social media users object to the name, saying it evoked “sundown towns,” places where Black people were once barred after dark.
