Thomas Partey is now an Arsenal player. Here is a thread with some background on him, style of play and how/why he will fit at Arsenal. ⬇️ Partey began to establish himself properly with Atleti around 2017/2018. After struggling to figure out what type of player he really was, Atleti found a role for him at the base of their midfield. Koke and Saúl often played wide/as interiors so Partey stepped up centrally.

Arsenal informed Atletico Madrid they will pay the release clause of Thomas Partey. Now, to see if they do... Always thought trouble was brewing with Partey and Atleti when it became apparent there was a standoff during contract talks. Thomas on €2.5m per season and was offered €1m extra per season as an improvement. Rejected it just prior to the COVID19 enforced break.

Mikel Arteta a bright, positive appointment for Arsenal and one they can look upon with foresight. This isn't interim or safe pair of hands, it's a coach that Arsenal can build with and forge a new identity. It's bold but it's also common sense for a club in need of an overhaul. For what Arteta lacks in experience, he has already set about making up for in his early moves as coach. His work on teaching players new positions (Delph, Zinchenko), helping them integrate (Rodri) and ironing out their weaknesses (Sterling) has been notable behind the scenes.

A look at Gio Lo Celso after his move to Spurs. Straight to the point and first of all; a much better signing/fit for Mauricio Pochettino and his philosophy than Paulo Dybala or Coutinho would've been. Only 23-years-old and with a HUGE ceiling. #THFC At PSG Lo Celso was badly misused - ie; don't read much into it. Not only given a lack of minutes but also played out of position (as deep lying midfielder). At Betis he has been nothing short of outstanding, and one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe. #THFC
