🚨NEW: If proven true, the sordid details of the indictment of @SenatorMenendez reflect a country whose billionaire-owned Supreme Court has been explicitly telling politicians that flagrant, grotesque corruption will now be considered perfectly legal. levernews.com/the-menendez-s… In 2016, justices UNANIMOUSLY overturned the corruption conviction of fmr VA Gov. McDonnell, essentially saying gifts may be exchanged for certain government favors.

Menendez weaponized that to fight a past indictment & will likely try to do so again. levernews.com/the-menendez-s…

Gearing up for the World Series, I went on a trip down Phillies memory lane with a deep dive into my old baseball card collection…found this GOAT third baseman found these — I got them all autographed…I was an obsessive collector

shoulda had a subplot in Don’t Look Up about pundits who never have anything to say about the incoming comet but who suddenly have lots of rage to express about soup We live in a society that is more scandalized by some soup at a museum than by the carbon pollution and deforestation that is systematically destroying the ecosystem that supports all life on the planet. It’s beyond parody at this point.

I'm often disgusted with The NY Times sanitizing fascists & then I remember that 2 weeks before Hitler invaded Poland, NYT published a profile of Hitler hanging out at his mansion.

"He likes to see color on the table & excellent tomatoes are supplied from nearby greenhouses." Truly amazing - they did a celebrity profile of ADOLF FUCKING HITLER literally days before he launched World War II.

Few will be honest so I’ll just say it:

These are good but minimal reforms & dont address what we know is the problem: assault weapons.

The open question is whether the bill will be a first step toward real solutions or be depicted as a panacea & thus deflate pressure for more. If you made me bet, I’d bet it’s the latter — the legislation will be celebrated as “historic” and Republicans will use that billing to falsely insist they already addressed gun violence and that doing anything more is an overreach.
