It’s been nearly a year since the forced work-from-home experiment, and unfortunately not much has changed.

The current technology most rely on - Zoom, Google Meets, Slack - all seem stuck. If this is the destiny of remote work, many people would rather pass… To them, it means piling on Zoom fatigue. Feeling isolated from coworkers. Actually, feeling isolated in general.

Some people freak out when they think remote work is the future.

Like, really freak out. They express completely valid concerns, like this guy below:

What I learned from raising my first seed round.

This isn’t a how-to guide, that may come later. This is just a story and observations from my own experience.

See, I didn’t know what I was doing at all... We had a built a prototype, people seemed to like it. Investors seemed to like it. Not because I showed it to them, I wouldn’t know how to do that.

But I got a lot of inbound asking about the product and found myself stumbling into meetings with people with no real goal.

Fuck you. “Video games are a waste of time.”

You sound like every other person who fed me that bullshit growing up.

Gaming has had an enormous impact on so many lives. Here’s how it changed mine, I encourage you to share yours. I used to play video games every day as a means of escaping an abusive household.

Maybe I could’ve helped my parents sell drugs or join in on the fights. I chose to play video games instead.

Was that a waste of time?

✨Bring back serendipity to your remote team

👉 branch.gg One of the biggest things lost in remote work is chance meetings. On zoom you have no "peripheral vision." You can’t overhear.

🤔 How do you replicate serendipity and the fun of working together in the same office? Image

Shouldn’t work be fun? Why can’t work feel like playing games with the boys?

I’ve had so many great times just chatting with my team and hanging out. And if you can’t do the same, then there’s something seriously wrong with your company culture. I just don’t understand the hype of “async”

We invented phones because writing letters sucked.

Its so much more human and serendipitous to talk to eachother.
