A long time ago, before all my current gray hair, I was a state legislator. In Missouri. St. Louis County to be specific. Consider this a brief meditation on a thing that happens in state and local politics. 🧵
When I came into the legislature, I would get really frustrated because some of my colleagues were intent on using our time to file, pass through committees, and debate bills on things that weren't really a thing.

The insurrection was a violent reaction from people who believe that the election should be determined solely by the candidate who won the majority of the white vote.
That's what it boils down to. Not economic anxiety. Not the idea that Biden Democrats will expand government.

Last night the US Attorney for the Northern District of GA, BJ Pak, resigned before his planned stop date of 1/20/21. This is significant for a few reasons.

First, it's important to state the obvi: Pak resigned on the day of the GA senate runoff elections. Which, no matter who wins, will be decided by razor thin margins, likely in both races.

Another thing that I'd like to address. George Floyd was detained by police for allegedly passing a fake $20 bill during a trip to the corner store. That's why police responded to the scene in the first place.
1. We don't know that it was a counterfeit bill.
2. We don't know that George Floyd knew that it was a counterfeit bill.
It is impossible to establish that he had the mens rea (intent) to have committed a crime. But that's not my point here.
