When I announced @CressidaCowell as the new @UKLaureate back in 2019 I spoke about a little girl whose Mum had built her shelves to house the one book she’d received from @Booktrust. She wants her to have a better future than she’d had. 1/2 They were asylum seekers. She was worried because their local library was closing. She couldn’t afford to buy books for her daughter so her only access to books was the school library. The school library meant this little girl could read for pleasure and a brighter future ❤️
