Sharing my bad experience in Mysore for the safety of fellow Tamils (who can’t speak fluently in Kannada) for touring Mysore.

(1/n) Outside Mysore Railway Museum, I parked my car. After the visit, as I reversed (with sensors on), a guy suddenly stopped behind on a 2-wheeler. My car slightly brushed it. I stopped instantly & got down to say sorry.

Human survival has always depended on strong communities. For that, a unifying identity is essential.

For Hindus, caste still serves that role — there’s no widely accepted alternative yet. That’s sociology 101.

Destroying caste without building an alternative is social collapse If anyone disagrees, just look at politics.

For nearly a century, Hindutva politicians have tried to unite all Hindus under one banner — but it hasn’t worked.

Because that identity isn’t as strong as the caste bond.

One of my business is steel wholesale.

Most of the Jain or Patel businesses in TN exist just because we can’t communicate with north in Hindi and purchase goods from Raipur or Bhillai.

They come, learn our language and do distribution here in 1000s of crores.

(1/n) We can’t do business in English with ease.

E.g., last month I went to Odisha - there people speak Odia & Hindi (to some extent) - English they understand but you can see the discomfort in their face…

Can’t get along easily without language. Here is the problem…

My Thoughts on Caste and Hinduism [THREAD]

The recent controversy surrounding #Amaran movie has shown how weak the fissures are in Hindu society.

While the concern of Brahmin community is genuine, some advising to boycott the movie looked too much! Image (2/n)
Tamil films are deeply anti-brahminical. Making fun, sexualising Brahmin women has been so normalised over years. Most often they're are shown timid & cunning.

& that's why the voices ask 'Why can't the biopic on brave Major Mukund (Iyengar) be shown truthfully?' Image

My first hand info about PMK came while I was studying in CEG - when literally everything was in their hands. From VC to Dean all appointed by them.

CEG - from being one of the top ten institution in India became a mediocre institution - even changed the prestigious name

(1/n) CEG - the brand name was ditched & called as university college.

While we have to get permission to own a bicycle - one student claiming to be grandson of Ayya will roam around in Fiat Linea loaded with liquor 🥃 & poor girls esp. on weekends.
