K1's armor packages imported from 1984. Licensed production began in 90s K1's level of protection is assumed similar to that of M1/IPM1 Abrams: KE 400+mm/CE 700+mm

The reason Why its hull side armor is so thick is because of armor appliques.

Export and local production contract deal of K2 MBT was made with Polish government. Many polish people welcomed but some of them got displeased with it. Because 7 road wheel design initially proposed by Hyundai Rotem seems to be terminated as the program goes on. They assume protection and survivability of K2 is miserable and sometimes become aggressive on the topic. This kind of perspective is caused by the introduction of M1 Abrams with excellent protection and survivability proven in combat.

몇몇 분들은 감소 우라늄 장갑재나 M1A2 SEPv3의 최신 장갑재NewEvolutionaryArmor가 아니라 실망할 수 있다만. 되려 예상했던 M1A1보다 더 나은 상황이다 M1A1과 M1A2의 가장 큰 차이는 전차장 조준경 유무다.

차장 독립 열상 조준경(CITV)라 불리는 이 탐지 장비는 전차장이 개별적으로 색적을 하고 목표를 지정해 포수에게 알려줄 수 있다.

US DOD confirms Specific version of M1 Abrams being headed to Ukraine: M1A2 with Export Armor Package.

Some may be disappointed because of absence of Depleted Uranium armor or New Evolutionary Armor used in M1A2 SEPv3. But still this is a very positive. Compared to M1A1, M1A2 has commander's periscope called Commander's Independant Thermal Viewer(CITV).

This seems to be a small change but it's not.

This sight allows Tank Commander independantly search and designate target to gunner.

Many people concern Ukrainian Army cannot maintain and sustain M1 Abrams.

AGT1500 Turboshaft Gas Turbine is widley believed to be a problem because it drains fuel a lot.

But it's not true.

우크라이나가 미국으로부터 공여받는 M1 에이브럼스 전차를 운용하고 유지하기 어려울 거라는 걱정이 파다하다. 터보샤프트 개스터빈 엔진 때문이다.허나 이는 사실이 아니다.

M1 에이브럼스 전차의 연료 효율은 미군이 운용하기 시작하고 나서 수십년 간 개선되어 왔다. 미 육군 보고서 표를 수정/요약했다.

BSFC 수치만 보면 된다.

단위는 Lb/HP/Hr로 각각 최대 출력에서 나오는 연비.

M1은 0.5로 0.414의 레퍼드2와 K1 전차 대비 20퍼센트 저연비다. 챌린저2와 K2 흑표 대비 35퍼센트 가량 뒤진다.

번외로 올린 T-80의 GTD 엔진들은 M1과 비슷하거나 더 저효율이다.
