If you have trouble keeping up with @MakerDAO governance, you should check out this episode with @MonetSupply.

He does a wonderful job breaking down complex issues and proposals into simple, digestible takeaways.

reverie.ooo/podcast-episod… For context, MakerDAO is one of the original DeFi protocols, and has been a pioneer in governance and DAOs.

Some highlights:
- active protocol governance since 2018
- dissolved foundation in 2021 and returned all funds to the DAO
- launched autonomous core units

I'm super bullish on @element_fi.

Aside from building some amazing tools for variable/fixed rates, they've designed a new governance system that tackles the question:

"How do you scale a DAO's decision-making while maintaining checks and balances?"

anchor.fm/i-pledge-alleg… This week's guests have as deep a knowledge base about DeFi governance as anyone out there.

@CharlieStLouis and @PVienhage have redesigned a new governance system from scratch, using lessons from MakerDAO governance and others, while trying to address current pitfalls.

Really excited about how this episode of I Pledge Allegiance came out.

We spoke about all things treasuries, featuring @hasufl, @monetsupply, and @lsukernik.

It’s a must-listen for anyone managing/running a treasury.

anchor.fm/i-pledge-alleg… We discuss @hasufl and @MonetSupply's recent blog post, and expand on topics that aren't covered.

This episode includes both theoretical frameworks for treasuries as well as practical advice on how to deploy them.

Grin has experienced a huge growth in hash rate, and price in the past week.

I did some analysis on Grin hash rate vs other GPU mined networks (ETH, XMR, Beam)

Source: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d… Important note - these are some *very* rough numbers - this is not meant to be a definitive analysis.

My key assumptions:

- The 1070 represents a standard GPU and is a good benchmark.
- ETH, XMR, and Grin are the main GPU chains. ZEC is mostly ASICs.

1) The bet on bitcoin is a macro play - that decades of cheap credit and out of control central bank policies necessitates the existence of a scarce, self-sovereign asset. 2) It's no surprise that most professional investors don't pay close attention or think much about cryptocurrencies - how many can count monetary policy + macro trends as part of their core competencies?

1) Bitcoin governance used to be much more centralized. Quoting a piece from @random_walker about the 2013 bitcoin fork. Worth revisiting this incident.

freedom-to-tinker.com/2015/07/28/ana… 2) "On March 11, 2013, Bitcoin experienced a technical crisis. Versions 0.7 and 0.8 of the software diverged from each other in behavior due to a bug, causing the block chain to “fork” into two."

1) Projects like Ethereum, Tezos, and EOS have raised massive amounts of money, and are also facing public scrutiny from angsty investors. Both are undesirable when the product is so immature (true for all 3). h/t @lsukernik @anderslarson11 2) Raising lots of money messes with incentives and focus. Capital Allocation is a hugely underrated skill set with CEOs and a key indicator of success. Hard to do that effectively with some massive warchests. (The Outsiders) amazon.com/Outsiders-Unco…
