In 1519 the Danish king decided to give almost the entire island of Amager, an island right next to Copenhagen, to Dutch settlers.

The Dutch language, culture, and even laws on the island remained there well into the 19th century.

Absurd? Yes, but it really happened.

THREAD 👇 Christian II of Denmark was the king of Denmark and Norway under the Kalmar Union from 1513 til 1523

Before he was king Christian met Dyveke Willomsdatter at a ball in Norway. Dyveke was a Dutch girl that was invited to the ball together with her mother. He fell in love with her

Today the Dutch government finally recognised the Allied bombing of Dutch civilians that happened in 1944.

At least 800 civilians died, however this likely doesn't account for all deaths, making it a contender for the deadliest terror-bombing in Dutch history.

THREAD : 1/7 Image The minister of Justice and Safety said "We remember soldiers and resistance members, but there's been a deafening silence surrounding the senseless civilian deaths. Evidence and stories of large scale Allied plundering in the Netherlands were recently put forward by the Dutch Freedom Museum. This 'dark page of the liberation' was intentionally hidden after the war.

THREAD (1/9) Despite it not fitting with the prevailing Dutch image of the Allied forces as "our heroic liberators", researcher Paul Klinkenberg thinks it's time this story gets told after decades of being covered up under the guise of gratitude.

Thread about the recent farmer protests in the NL

>Parliament flooded with tractors
>Doors rammed
>Army deployed
>Angry politicians

This has had little to no traction outside the Dutch sphere, so Ive decided to make an English thread detailing the events on the 3 major protests DAY 1 - OCTOBER 1

This day had been in the books of farmers for a while, but little attention was paid to it by the media. Most normies, including me, didn't know a large scale protest was coming until a morning traffic record was already broken.

Tractors on all highways.

THREAD:

In this thread, I will explain why Dutch nationalism does not make sense, as a Dutch nationalist. Definitely click on this if you consider yourself a Dutch nationalist. 1/25 Low information Dutch nationalists often idolise the Dutch golden age, the 17th century. This is the type of nationalism that appears everywhere, with imagery of oil paintings and ships travelling to east Asia.
