I know a straight up power couple that decided to stay here in OKC because they were able to get big tech jobs in fields that interested them. They were going to relocate to DFW.

We talk about "local" possibly too much. To help local, we think global. We import and export. We ought to want to compete, learn, and network at the highest levels.

And local companies are important. But like it or not we're moving toward a more level and equal economy.

Things like pay/benefits for local devs being less for local companies is no longer true.

To me, I'm convinced the best bang-for-your-buck early startup/product function you can have is UX Research.

People say get an iteration out there and get it in front of people. But how you do that and the way you approach that process is really going to be the key. UX isn't magical, it just provides a more tangible way to figure out what the customers expectations are of a product. It's a window into a much larger world that is driving customer decisions and expectations.

This is some self-laundry, but a lot of this had to do with my self-conception as a man and husband

At the time I wanted desperately to be a pastor and leader in a Reformed/Acts29 church and was never accepted as a part a pastoral inner circle, in any significant way.

(1/9) ...then, when I had marital problems, the message Driscoll preaches was the one I heard a lot: it's your responsibility, so be a better husband.

Man, in no way could I change my situation and I know that now. But I put it on my own shoulders for years.

If I had a ton of money (~$100+ million) to start a company and solve a problem, I'd probably go for something in healthcare of course (my passion).

I have so many thoughts on #healthcaretech but I think two major solutions that would benefit the industry are: 1. truly decentralized patient record. So many inefficiencies in the system come down to communicating and reconciling a patient's data. Ends up in a terrible experience, high costs, and overworked folks.

All up dates need to be real-time, accessible, and secure.
