Many of you are wondering why Prajwal Revanna videos didn’t hit the news cycle before since they have been doing rounds for months. There are two reasons. One is that he got a court gag order last year itself claiming videos may come. This is a list we made of other gag orders Image Bengaluru courts have a habit of giving gag orders ex parte, which is, the other side is not heard. @kavashivani and I went thru court records to find more than 600 cases against the media. A bunch of 25 journalists have been working together from day before, with one purpose- to look at the electoral bond data. @thenewsminute already works with @newslaundry. @scroll_in’s @sharmasupriya and we spoke and thought why not work together Then we pooled in around 10 independent journalists, people like @t_d_h_nair @FightAnand @parthpunter @nikita1712 @NeelMadhav_ @Orangutard and others. Most have never worked with each other, in fact many didn’t even know each other

Today @vinaysreeni, who is a lawyer messaged me asking why certain newspapers have reported ECI probe found no manipulation of electoral roll. One headline said- Probe into Chilume finds no manipulation of electoral data. Let me explain why this is dishonest reporting. This is a 49-page report by Amlan Biswas IAS. The probe report clearly lays out how BBMP officials helped Chilume over the years, subverted a complaint against him and he threatened the complainant. The report says no manipulation of electoral rolls, but why is that surprising?

This Monday morning, I want to start on a happy note and tell you what good journalism can do. So the first thing- months after our investigation, a probe by Amlan Biswas IAS has found that a pvt agency collected Bengaluru voter data illegally

thenewsminute.com/article/probe-… This part of the report makes me especially proud. There was a complaint against Chilume, a company with political patronage, but BBMP officers tried to subvert it, and then TNM came into the picture. Image

Been watching the Asianet News saga play out for two or three days. Of the opinion that the channel and the police have to answer a few things here. The channel needs to explain why they failed to mention it was an enactment. But that's the easy qs The first report came in August 2022. It now seems that after the first report was published, there were revelations that the family's history is murky. The father himself was accused in a POCSO offense against the daughter. Then, why did the channel

This week, our #BigStory is a hunt for an Emeergency Contraceptive Pill in Chennai. Why did we do this? A few months ago, when we did a similar story, Health Minister @Subramanian_ma said it is available in govt hospitals. Really? We checked But our reporting was not limited to doing ground checks. We got RTI responses from 45 from government general hospitals across the state. @KuthaliPu and @NidharshanaR write on what the RTIs said and the dissonance on ground. thenewsminute.com/article/tnm-in…

These agents came to a farmhouse owned by a TRS MLA, spy cams had already been kept ready there by cops. In simple points. Why the Arumughaswamy Commission report should be thrown in the bin.
1. The whole report hinges on the notion that Sasikala and Jayalalithaa had a fallout and therefore S wanted bad things to happen to J. And this is based on a Tehelka report from 2012 Has the Commission got any evidence to show that this Tehelka story was true? Nope. Does Commission have any proof to show that S planned to kill J? No. It simply says, because S was thrown out by J briefly in 2011, there was a feeling of unhappiness

Meet Athira and Shameem. After dating each other for years, got married in Dec 2019. A few weeks before their wedding, RW bullies harassed them using their marriage registration notice. Athira went to court challenging provisions of the
Special Marriage Act. But SC didn't help Image Athira challenged Sections 6(2), 6(3), 7, 8 and 9. Why? These sections allow intended marriage notice to be put up at registration office boards, on their website for 30 days. Third parties can object to wedding if a person is already married. After a month, marriage is formalised

A short story about a really nice man named Omer in Vienna. I went to Vienna last month to attend the International Press Institute's World Congress. And at my clumsy best, I lost my wallet. I am one of those travellers who keeps all their cards in the same wallet 😀 Life wasn't easy after that. @sharmasupriya helped me with cash, she left Vienna two days before me. To add to me woes, I was not allowed to board my flight as my RT PCR results never came!! And I had to book return flight again for the next day. Had to test again

Hello! What is fake news here?
You went there.
Said sorry that numbers leaked, people harassed and said you will find who leaked numbers.
You said you read a list which was given to you.
You said 'being shown as a conspiracy against Muslims'

How do I know? I have the audio. There is only one issue with the TNM story. We said Tejasvi Surya said he isn't 'communal or casteist'. In the 15 min audio, it is not there. Maybe it was there in a part of the speech we missed. However, if you didn't say that, sorry for attributing it.

As far as oxygen goes, there is good news and bad news for Tamil Nadu. Good news. The state is using 400 tonnes per day. Though it produces 400 tonnes, some quantity is given to states like Telangana, Kerala, Andhra. Kerala gives to TN, (I think Andhra too) So in yesterday's DPIIT meeting Kerala said they will continue to give 40 MT to TN till Sterlite is operational next week. TN gives from St Gobain plant to Kochi, this will also continue for now y

Have done an investigation into the deaths in Bengaluru. However, I have to add here that the work done by people in these crematoriums and by those in the BBMP is tremendous. However, if the deaths were being undercounted due to a chink in the system, it has to be addressed This is the story, we went to 7 crematoriums, punched in data. This is what we found thenewsminute.com/article/tnm-in…

So many lovely people crawling on my TL since yesterday. Saying all kinds of crap (some don't even like eh). But let me tell you all something, especially the women here. Around 3 years ago,I used to get very disturbed at organised trolling. I would lose sleep and worry endlessly As a journalist, there are times when I knew the backlash would come, because that's part of the job. There are times that I would get upset despite knowing this. Though I would tell my colleagues to mute threads, I would still check them and get worried. I used to get nightmares
